Great stuff, Tas! ?
I'm familiar with this battle and studied it as I have Dien Bien Phu. Interesting history...
Glad I was not in either place! A far cry from Warrior Base on the DMZ...

Yep ... right up the road from Warrior Base and then the MDL ... and that's where the fun began ...

Hi!
I wonder what the French army was thinking in voluntarily putting themselves into a "siege" scenario and let themselves be assaulted that way. It seems to me the Vietnamese had the upper hand.

Isn't it safe to assume that the techpriests would adapt the aircraft to the surroundings (Vtol/Stovl for dense jungle such as Catachan etc..).
Mind you I commend you for taking on such an ambitious project

Primarch,
Get a copy of "Dien Bien Phu - Hell in a Very Small Place" by B. Fall.
Excellent book and covers the topic in detail. A very complicated subject.
And Haarken, I think he is going to make a generic airfield, not a fortified jungle Landing Strip/Fire Base.
We were just using Khe San and Dien Bien Phu as examples. ?
And who knows what the Techpriests would do!
A study of both battles and my experience in the jungle tells me to use anything and everything... that works!

Yep ! Got the models in epic scale. They have skids instead of wheels. They must have some sort of a small gavitic device and land like a Star Wars X-Wing (IIRC). She must fly into it's landing point, flare up and settle straight down, like a chopper coming in fast on a hot day loaded.

Vipers in Battlestar Galactica had skids too remember!

Good point ! But I think F/W was just trying to be "different". But I like them, regardless !
