Hello everyone.
I'm in the process of planning a build for the new Adeptus Titanicus game that looks like it may be released in near the future (1y?). I used to have a few EPIC minis but long since sold them and have never actually played.
I've read a lot about how the new game will not actually be 6mm but rather 8mm.
Since there's really no other scifi 8mm game or terrain on the market it seems silly to build specifically for such a scale. Also, when it comes to smaller scales like 6 and 10mm it seems to me that the miniatures and terrain are more a symbolic representative (be it thematic) of what's going on instead of a 1:1 representation of scale and quantity. Even within the history of Epic there's a lot of scale creep as well as just inconsistencies. So instead of trying to be super exact with scale I think its probably better to have something that just plain looks cool but still not vastly out of scale.
For that reason I'm thinking of just building for 6mm. That way the new Titans and other models are
1: easy to pick out of the terrain.
2: look impressive against it.
3: Can re-use the same terrain for other 6mm games on the market.
So my questions to the community would be these.
Would playing 8mm minis on 6mm terrain just look weird? or would it work?
Also for anyone out there that has both 6mm and 10mm scifi minis can you take a picture of them both against 6mm terrain?
THANKS!
Below is a mockup I made in Sketchup to get an idea of the scale difference of a typical Land Raider. Let me know if I have the measurements wrong for the 6mm one.
