What would be the best way to show ruined trees for scale? OR blasted/blackened trees.

All my terrain is the old plastic ruins so it makes sense the battlefield would be a wasteland of nothing growing.

Would this kit be the best way? http://woodlandscenics.woodlandscenics. ... 124/page/1

Toss a good amount on a base, paint em black, dry brush and call it a dead forest?

Scale seems a little off though, not sure

Ive done winter trees (for architectural models) using electrical wire before. Slide off the plastic coating and twist the strands in increasingly smaller bunches into trunk, then branches, then twigs. Spray black and you should be good.

The woodland scenics tress will work great as dead fire-blasted pines, depending on what scale games you're playing? At 28mm they're a little short, but entirely serviceable, could represent a younger growth forest. At 6mm they'd practically be sequoias, although too slender to be to proper scale. At either 6 or 10mm I'd probably remove the branches from the bottom half, as trees that tall tend to only have large branches and greenery near the tops.

The great thing is though, unless you're doing historicals, there's no need for them to scale perfectly to any specific type of earth tree!

Or a wasteland being reclaimed by nature...

Yes i think those dead trees look great as said just cut them down to scale them in, As said also adding flock to ruined buildings to simulate vines and ivy etc also looks great for that post apoc look

For dead trees, twigs would be the first thing I go to.
Will need a good cleaning and sealing before painting so you don't get anything growing out of them later.

If you use real bio material, you should wash it in IPA and then seal it. One day it will grow mold

I always planned to do wasteland dead trees for Epic by using the Woodland Scenics plastic armatures but just without anything on. Drybrushed different grey/brown colours.
