Hey everyone, I've only just recently joined up, its great to see such an active forum and one that caters for my passion for Epic. I bought a copy of Epic: 40,000 when it was first released, enjoyed a few games of it and then moved on to 'regular' 40K when E:40K was shelved. However I loved the grand scope that Epic gave- boards representing miles of plains, where you could have towering mountains, winding rivers and roads, and huge skyscraper-type buildings. I especially loved the GW imagery of the time- the huge towering fortresses built into hills, towering cliff faces, all mainly on a sea of bright green grass. Epic for me is a step back for the uber-realistic 'grimdark', to a simpler time where paintjobs were bright and heraldry was abundant.

Anyhow, reminiscing notwithstanding, i've decided to get stuck back into Epic, and have started to resurrect my old E:40K minis- the marines are in a bath of simple green at current- so iIve now begun to construct some terrain. I decided to start with some small (but characterful) pieces that could be used for terrain and double as an objective point as well. To that end i spent about an hour last night building this workshop using some 40K bitz- mainly IG and SM, and composed primarily from a Stormraven hurricane bolter pod. I also cut up a Spare missile I had of undetermined lineage- this made the waste drum by the front door nad the two drums out near the power generator, which is a cut-and-shut IG vehicle heavy flamer. I put it all on a thin 2.5'/ 60mm plastic base, and will be hitting it with some fine grade sand and talus soon.

Anyhow, less waffling, more pics.

I suppose this could double as a bunker as well- the power generator could be a shield generator as well?

Will have some more pics up soon of my other works in progress, hoping to have this one painted up soon as well.

Cheers,
Tempest

Really like your building, very smart! I too have just returned to epic after at least a decade-long absence! I must start building some terrain objectives!

I too was delighted to discover this site, it's a joy to find that I'm not the only one still interested in this fantastic game!

Hi and welcome aboard :)

I just returned myself.

that objective looks nice. Looking forward to seeing it painted up. And also how your marines will turn out!

Looks really great! Well done :) Good to have you back in the Epic fold too and there lots of friendly, helpful people around on the forums here.

I skipped Epic40k myself, having played the previous Space Marine and Titan Legions edition loads but finding generally terrible reviews for Epic40k (shame, as the models were a big improvement).

Epic Armageddon is the current ruleset though and what nearly all Epic players play now - I strongly recommend it, it's my favourite wargame by far. I love the huge scale of the battles and the tactical and strategical elements if the game. A PDF version of the Epic Armageddon rulebook is available for free to read and download in the Specialist Games section on the Games Workshop - check it out. GW stopped further development of Epic some time ago but the Epic community have continued occasional rebalancing and expanding of lists since - see here www.net-armageddon.org/sites/default/fi ... -08-09.pdf In the standard tournament scenario each player has 3 objective markers and many people base them on those 60mm round bases and that looks perfect for an imperial objective.
