"Destroyer" weapons ignore armour values. A feature no other weapon has.
AND it gives +1 on the damage table.
AND if you use a blast template the target vehicle needn't be under the center hole in order to receive apenetrating hit. Any part of the template will cause a penetrating hit.

MW are essentielly Strength 8+ weapons which either ignore armour saves or have Armourpiercing 2 or better AND they have to be closecombat weapons (Powerfist, Thunderhammer, etc).
If they are Strength 8+ with Armourpiercing 1 they can be shooting weapons (Melta, Multi-melta, Fusiongun, etc).
