I was under impression the Legio Mortis were Khorne but maybe the Legion split up ?

Could have. I'm with Nicodemus on this one. I too think I read somewhere that Legio Mortis/Death Heads were Nurgle. I have absolutely no idea where I heard it though.

Oh yeah: And the original Legio Mortis color scheme was indeed black with reed trim as per Adeptus Titanicus Rulebook cover :;):
I think it would be safe to assume that the color scheme had changed somewhat over the milennia since the heresy

No official background text links Legio Mortis to Nurgle.  There are 2 circumstantial clues that they might have gone over:

1)  They scoured Istvaan VII (I think... one of the Istvaans, anyway) after it had been virus bombed.
2)  Their game piece in the Horus Heresy board game was the same color as Nurgle.

Both are highly tenuous.  Obviously, non-Nurgle forces virus bombed plenty of stuff as well (or went in after virus bombing).  Flaming skulls and Storm Lords are described in the background text as Khornate but their game pieces were colored for Tzeentch and Slaanesh, respectively.  That makes the game piece connection quite dubious as well.

Not entirely true, the Horus Heresy Cycle so far strongly implies that they went over to Nurgle. The following books will clarify this.

Hmmm. Ok, so Legio Mortis might be Nurgle Legio.

Silver Scythes, Festering Death should be Nurgle Legio for sure? Anybody have scans of that CJ#9 which had article of them?

@redsimon: So? Have you read Fulgrim and is it there suggested? Because in the other 4 books there is no mention of it sofar as that the Dies Irae survived the virus bombing of Istvaan and proceeded to destroy the loyal suvivors.

I dont remember what heresy book it was, but it did mention that after the firestorm, when the survivors started fighting the traitors Dies Irae was allready blasting Death guard into bitz...

The Death Heads were latter seen on Hydra Cordata joined to the Iron Warrior IIRC. Suggesting that either the legion is fractured or they are still undivided.

Of course, the loyal Death Guard.

As for the Legio, it seemed to me that the mission of the Deus Irae on Davin (Nurgle-infested) implies that they have been tainted there by Nurgle like the Warmaster.
That's because another, older source mentions a contamination of the Legio by Viruses, though on Isstvan (virus bombing), not Davin. This is either Adeptus Titanicus (original game), Storm of Iron (novel) or White Dwarf 110 (UK).

The old adpetus astartes articles in WD (back when they had articles), mentions how the iron warriors have close links with legio mortis and how they work with each other a lot of the time, so I have always assumed that they were undivided.

I have also always thought that the coruption of the legio in the scourging  of Isstvan was more to do with them becoming daemonic due to the atroscities they committed (which is also linked to why warhound battlegroups were outlawed).
