Waaaaay back in White Dwarf 109 there was an article about Warhounf Titans which classified them as Mastiffs and Wolves.  What defined these two types?

I seem to recall badges for the "Nemesis," "Death Bringer" etc. types of Warlord Titans.  Was there something similar for the Mastiff and Warhound?  Where were the markings placed?  What did they look like?  Can anyone describe or even scan them for me, please?

According to my research, the differences are:

- A Mastiff Warhound is armed with a Vulcan Megabolter and a Plasma Blastgun.

- A Wolf Warhound is armed with a turbolaser and an inferno cannon.

So both types are currently sold,

- Mastiff from SG or FW.
- Wolf from FW only.

Um... I have A Wolf Warhound down as armed with a Turbolaser and a Plasma Blastgun not your weapon fit. I also have a Jackal Warhound which is armed with a Vulcan Megabolter and an Inferno Cannon.

EDIT: found this on the web
Mastiff : Plasma Blastgun and VulcanMegabolter or Turbo Laser Destructor

Wolf: TurboLaserDestructor and Melta-Cannon

Jackal: VulcanMegaBolter and InfernoCannon

This makes it even more confusing

Somewhere here is a thread where this is discussed.

Confusing indeed. Especially since there was never a MElra Cannon released for either the Reaver or Warhounds. ???

IIRC The weapons were:

Warhound/ Reaver weapons:
Plasma blastgun
Turbo Laser Destructor
Inferno Gun
Vulcan Megabolter

Reaver only:
Chain fist
Power fist
Rocket launcher.

Or am I completely mistaking?

Inferno Cannon is a Melta weapon so it could mean that.

Warhounds were allowed to take the Rocket launcher at one time, at least through SM2.

You're probably right. Never used that combo myself as I felt it was a bit out of character to have a scout titan with a barrage weapon. It would have looked slightly goofy too IMO. :)

Yes, we did discussed this before ... and we brought up W/D 109.   BlackLegion is correct, I sent him the page that has them in the old AT1 data cards ... IIRC ...  And on those cards are the AT1 symbols ...

I have no problems with it from a weapons load perspective, but I always thought it looked a little goofy, too. That's why I've never fielded a Warhound with a rocket launcher.

Went to my "Black Library" ... W/Hnd symbol = a low crouching wolf over the top of the traditional Titan "T" ... ?Mastiff = a 4 pronged "E", with the pronges down. Wolf = the same but the top/back of the ?"E" is pointed "^" ... ? ?The Mastiff has 2 weapons configs - RA - Plasma Gun, LA - Auto Cannon. The other is RA - Las-cannon, LA - Plasma Gun. ?Wolf = ?RA - Las-cannon, LA - Multi-melta. ?From what I can tell, but no definite intell on symbol placement ... RL = Wolf/T & LL = "E" ?  ? W/D 109 does not mention the Jackal variant but in ?an old F/W add, the Jackal = RA - Inferno Gun, LA = Mega Bolter. No symbol data ... ? Hope that helps ... :)

Thanks, L4.  So is the Mastiff symbol the same as the "Warhound identification mark" on page 30 of Codex Titanicus?

So, it looks like the Titan I'm planning on painting, with a Vulcan Mega-Bolter (Autocannon) and Turbo-Laser Destructor (Lascannon), matches none of these configurations.  I guess I should come up with a new type of Warhound, huh?

 How does "Cerberus" sound?

You going to add 3 heads? or maybe 2 sensor domes, 1 on either side of the carapace.
