Hi guys!

Short question. The epic 40k era plastic imperial guard (coat stile) were they intended to be steel legion or valhallans? Maybe this never was official, and they're just guardsmen.

cheers

I think they're just regular guardsmen that work best as Steel Legion and Valhallan guardsman due to the coat. I'm not sure if it was ever officially one or the other. But I may be wrong.

Valhallan. No doubt. Look at the missile launcher crew. Russkie fur hats. Oh, and all of them carry those blanket/satchels over the shoulder. Valhallan.

The box art being of valhallans was also a dead giveaway!

Time for a thread hijack!

Anyone have a close up picture to show the difference between Baran Siegemaster and the Valahallan infantry? I can't tell if there is a difference from pictures I have seen.

/hijack

iirc they started life as valhallans in epic40k days (hence the box art) but they were sold as steel legion when EA was launched.

However there are various details which are very cartoon Russian - fur hats, the Russian style kit bags, etc, and they don't have any steel legion features like gas masks etc.

I can arrange one, but iirc the baran (later krieg) infantry are the plastic sculpts but with gas masks and rucksacks added

I kinda suspected as much, thanks Kyuss, I just couldn't actually tell from any pic I had ever seen. Well that clears that up.
