Post subject:  30k Sons of Horus - chapter colours
So I'm toying with dipping my toe into 30k. Since first ed. Space Marine I've been a fan of the Sons of Horus, which back then wore black right?

Now, some of the more recent Heresy lore has passed me by a bit but it looks like they would now be deep turquoise during the 30k period and then morph into the Black Legion post heresy? Is that about right? Is that a change or am I getting my fluff confused?

I painted my Codex SMs 30k SoH ( black ) which I thought was correct back in 1990s according to the 2nd Chaos Codex. I can't find this to check anymore but I was told by a local 30k player (though I haven't been able to track this down) that the SoH first veteran chapter (Abbadon's) always wore Black, hence as why they became the Black Legion when the chapter fled to the EoT lead by Abbaddon. Seems my SMs got a promotion ! :-)

Were they not white/bone colour, then greenish then black?

Sea green regular and black for the Justaerin terminators i believe.

The forge world book "betrayal", Lists white as lunar wolves, the greenish colour as SoH with black as elite formations. (ref page 71-75).

Only Abbadons Justaerian (the elite of the elite) terminators are black in sons of horus.

I believe so - sea green seems to be their colour now, moving to black when they became the Black Legion (after Horus was killed?)

Glad you've caught the bug :) all the epic im working on is set in this era. I Still have much to paint but an exciting project to work on. I'm a massive fan of the adeptus titanicus game and 1st ed space marine which as you know is set in this era (though am going to play some EA soon) I find it a more enjoyable storyline than modern 40k and motivates me to paint and play.

Ive joined the horus heresy 30k forum even though I don't collect forgeworld or 28mm at moment as its lovely to see everyones depiction of legions and plenty ideas.

I only use if for reference as I could never afford all that resin and anyway I as was drawn back to epic so I can have lots of titans and whole companies of legionaries :)
