Does it say anywhere in the background that Krieg IG units can/cannot use sentinels?

Has it ever been "officially" explained why?

The reason I ask is because I just saw a really nice picture of a diorama over on the FW Faceplant page showing a squad of Kriegsmen advancing down a street with a Sentinel in support. I thought "why not?"

The Death Korps don't use Sentinels in the same way that the Steel Legion don't use Gorgons... whilst some occasional regiments may make use of them, typically they do not.

Because a sentinel would look pretty silly standing in a trench for cover.

A lightly armoured rough terrain scout vehicle isn't that much use in the kreigs typical method of war.

I think it was mentioned briefly in swordwind that the DKoK Abandoned it during the Krieg rebellion due to the complexities of it's maintenance and unsuitability in trench warfare. (Read the description for the Siegfried)

Interestingly the same passage also says that the DKoK now prefer to use the 'more versatile' sentinel leaving the siegfried to the siege regiments.

I guess that leaves it wide open but the Krieg list is a siege list so I guess the above sentiments would apply. Then again I haven't actually read any of the 'Siege of Vraks' imperial armour books, FW may have said differently there.

My guess is that DKoK uses sentinels, but when they do it's in armies best represented with the Steel Legion list, not the DKoK list.

As the Krieg forces field Infantry, Mech, and Tank Regiments (as well as Siege units) does it not make sense that the more mobile forces would need a scouting unit that is better then the Siegfried tank?

I really don't see how it would take an "flavour' from the Kriegsmen.

The infantry, mech, and tank units are best represented by other lists, though. The DKoK list really only covers the 'iconic' Siege Regiments, with attached units from the more traditional formations.

Krieg don't use the Siegfried tank nor would they use sentinels. Sentinels in particular don't fit.

Their scouting needs are covered well by their Grenadier squads in Centaur Light Assault Carriers. You should all read the Vraks books, seriously - I regard them as the joint best background/books GW have ever done up (along with the original Realm of Chaos books) and they can be found online if you know where to look.

If you're playing Krieg in any other style than "Siege attackers", you're best to use another list to represent them. For example, the Minervan list started out as a Krieg Tank regiment.

They don't? You'll have to forgive me, then why are the sold by GW under the sigemasters banner and are on Krieg lists that I have seen?

Either way the beauty of a game like Epic is that since I wiould be running the game, and I don't use tournment rules the universe is what I (or any of us) make of it.

Those are the Barran Siegemasters, also siege troops but very different from the Death Korps. If I heard correctly Swordwind was going to include Death Korps, but during writing it they heard Forge World were going to be doing a army for them, so they re-wrote them to be a different regiment instead. Checkout the Krieg list in Siege compared to the GW Siegemasters lists and you'll see that majority of the units in the two lists are different. Barran are pretty much a a defensive siege army only while Krieg can be played offensively also if superheavy Gorgon transports are taken.

Swordwind does state however that most of the Baran equipment was developed during the course of the civil war on Krieg, but is no longer used there for a variety of reasons.
