Managed to get a quick game in this afternoon.
Eldar:
Wraithgate Avatar Revenants Cobra Jetbikes 6 Dire Avengers, 2 Dark Reaper Exarchs, in Wave Serpents 8 Warp Spiders, Autarch Exarch Guardians Guardians, 3 HW platforms, 2 Wraithguard
Marines:
Terminators, Chaplain Terminiators, Captain Assault Tactical, Captain Tactical, Tactical, Reaver
Turn 1: I took the centre of the table with the bulk of my eldar forces, while the marines moved slowly up each flank, except for a tactical formation and the Reaver which sat on overwatch near their blitz objective. (Good for me as it means I can rapidly swing all my forces against one flank or the other, plus the marines on overwatch have very limited fire arcs).
Turn 2: Sees the terminators arrive to kill my Revenants who are holding back on my left flank. Unfortunately for the Terminators in a two round engage action I pass all but two holofield saves (out of 25 rolls ? odds are I should have failed 8 and been totally destroyed!). The ?terminators retreat, having lost a total of 3 terminator stands. I then kill another two terminators with the Cobra. On the right I use the Avengers and Jetbikes to break a marine tactical formation and advance towards the Marine Blitz with all my forces. The Reaver doubles and shoots my Avengers killing two Serpents.
Turn 3: ?I summon the Avatar. The marines win SR and blast the avengers with the Reaver but manage to kill a measly 2 stands. The marines then launch a pre-emptive but poorly supported firefight and assault and another tactical and assault formation break. ?I hit the terminators with the cobra killing another two stands, leaving just a terminator chaplain. ?Only the marine Reaver, a lone termi chaplain and a tactical detachment are unbroken (and they have activated), and therefore I am able to win by ?they shall not pass? and ?defend the flag? objectives so we call the game. 2-0 to eldar.
Conclusion: ?Well appalling luck on the part of the marines didn?t help, but better mutual support moves could have improved the marines fortunes also.
Impression of Eldar Changes: Jetbikes ? no effect this game, (and I was able to be much more aggressive this game with no enemy artillery about. Arty really makes you notice 5+ saves).
Revenants ? significantly toned down. They hit and ran twice, killing one assault marine in cover on first occasion (would have killed three if MW3+ rather than MW4+), and 3 rhinos in open and one marine in cover on second occasion (again would have done much more damage). Pulse change makes hit and running much more attractive, and MW tone down is a needed decrease in ability IMO. (Of course the termis should have wasted my Revenants this game turn 2 but for my amazing dice rolling...)
Cobra ? Worked very nicely as a counterpunch against the termis. Ok this time ? I think maybe it is about right? with ?ignore cover? it would be overpowered vs infantry.
So despite the luck swinging significantly toward the eldar, this game would have to be counted as another endorsement of the proposed eldar changes.
