It's a test phase, if you find it too weak with out the d3/d6.. then it could trial with it in the next version that way..So longs as we have the Batreps to show it's weak or under performs .. :)

Sorry, about missing the weapons things scarik, to me no points = free, so didn't think it was blooper :)

Played another game of this on Friday, versus Tiny-Tim's Knightworld army.

I took the same list as before:

Phantom with Supreme Commander. 2x CCW
Revenant Pair with Pulsars

Revenant with Pulsars
Revenant with Pulsars
Revenant with Sonic Lances
War Walkers
Nightwing Squadron

He took a fair mix of different formation types, I'm sure he can fill in the exact list for us later.

At first I thought I was up against a very tough battle, as the lineup for tough looking Knights, most with good long range conventional shooting (more dangerous to Eldar than fewer, MW, shots, really) deployed across the board from me.

And then, assisted by going first three turns in a row (not unexpected given SR4 vs SR2), I took his army apart piece by piece without major difficulty. Turns out that while Eldar Titans should fear massed conventional shooting, Knights (an army of RA AV's) should probably fear SR4 massed MW ranged firepower even more.

4-0 on turn 3. All I failed to get was his Blitz.

He did nearly get my BTS; My Phantom was reduced to 1DC after fighting in two different Engagements (one I chose to attack him, and the second he attacked me). The Phantom also stubbed its toe on a ruined building on turn 1 for 1DC of damage (not a Critical, thankfully!).

I was helped by slightly good luck at times- My Phantom rolled 11 hits out of 12 attacks in its second round of Firefight vs the Paladins (first round was a draw), and one of my Revenants took 9 hits and saved 8 across two turns. But also the only Critical of the game was against another of my Revenants, which then lost its remaining 2DC to an artillery strike.

Overall I'd peg my luck as broadly "normal" with a couple of high points, and Tim's luck as broadly normal with a couple of low points.

A different strategy by either of us might have changed how things went; I played extremely aggressive on turn 1 and placed my damage locally, just out of counter-attacking engagement range from the non-targeted formations. Tim's deployment meant that he had very few opportunities to respond with damage on turn 1, or move into position to do damage on turn 2 with enough different formations that I couldn't win the roll-off and move out of range first.

=====

List building thoughts:

I haven't tried the Knights yet. When I do take them, I'll be trying out the CC/Shield Knights, because they offer something different to the Revenant.

Taking the Knights will let me try out a different weapons config on the Phantom; without another Engagement specialist formation, I'm pretty much forced into taking the dual CCW Phantom.

=====

A note on the Phantom's CCW stat listing: The CC extra attacks and FF extra attacks should be an OR choice, right, not an AND as it is currently? We played it as an OR so I had to choose during fights if I was going to use the CC or FF mode on the fist.

Hi EC,

Thanks for the report, much appreciated :) (Glad someone getting game in)

I gather you are talking about the Power Fist..the stats are correct, it just in the wrong order and the "and" is in the wrong spot by the looks..and checking the BT List confirms it.. its should be like the BT listing. So simple reorder will fix that..sorry ;D

So yes, I took:

Baron & Paladins
Paladins + Seneschal
Lancers
Errants + Seneschal
Crusaders
Militia + Tractors
Militia + Tractors
AA Battery + Tractors
Artillery + Tractors
Thunderbolts

So, things didn’t go too well for the knights in this game. Set my forces up with an idea to encircle the Eldar and take them apart with multiple crossfire. This did not happen. Where the holofields provided plenty of disguise the reinforced armour and shield of the knights didn’t. As expected the double fisted phantom was a beast in engagements and I might have been better just running away from it rather than trying to take it on. But you have to try these things. I was also disappointed when my two Lancers engaged a Revenant, rolled poorly and were wiped out by the resolution. Militia probably did the best breaking a revenant on one flank and being a speed bump on the other.

Generally Eldar did their thing with the Knights were not being able to sustain the initial onslaughts and respond in kind.

Oh yes I forgot about that. Weren't we equal on combat resolution, and then I rolled higher? Pretty lame way to lose.

I expected the Revenant to die in short order to that engagement. Instead it just broke, ran away, and rallied in the end phase, being instrumental in my turn 3 victory to boot.

Oh probably worth pointing out the Knightworld list used was the tournament-approved EUK one.

Great, thanks guys. I have made the edit to the power fist and reuploaded the pdf.

I'm planning to get in a battle with a heavy emphasis on CC knights this week.

Played another game last week vs IG, tested the new knights in one formation.

A 3-0 loss, but I wouldn't draw many conclusions from it as my luck was notably terrible, and CAA kept rolling Criticals, most unsportsmanlike.

I got in a 4k vs Steel Legion that was also a 3-0 loss but that was due to his regimental HQ eating both my warlock and CC phantom. It was ugly.

The knights performed well though I would like people to look out for how the weapons are chosen. I had a hard time seeing why I wouldn't put a scattershield on everything and then pick either the glaive or a wraithcannon.

Played a game against AMTL a couple of weeks ago... 0-3 loss IIRC... Knights again folded the first time they were eyeballed, so nothing useful to report on them (yet).

Another game with this list:

Phantom with Supreme Commander. 1x CCW, 1x D-Cannon
Revenant Pair with Pulsars

Revenant with Pulsars
Revenant with Sonic Lances
Knight formation all with CCW & Shield
War Walkers

Nightwing Squadron

Game played against Tim's infantry horde/tanks Orks. 2-0 win for Eldar on turn 3.

Points from the above games

- AMTL battle the Knights might have been broken, but they still easily fought off a Warhound and wiped him out. Double powerfist Phantom is scary. I have never had so many criticals on a Warlord before. I played with 2 Warlord BTS and one was destroyed so it was 3-1 in the end.

- Orks, stupid Nightwings and titan AA shot a fully loaded Landa out of the sky, Titans failed all bar 2 holofield saves, Orks just couldn't hit enough. I should have started with the Landa Infantry on the table and not risked Air Assaults, but wanted to try it out and failed all Landa saves....

Any thoughts on the stats of the knights, particularly the CC/FF ones.
