Titan assault weapons have arcs like any other weapon but this often isn't that much of a problem as a Titan can often use it's counter charge move to move and turn towards the enemy.

I don't think this question has been brought up before. Orks are probably the best example but their weapons attach the fire arc to the weapon profile. AMTL has a bit different system that attaches the weapon arc to the weapon slot on the titan itself. eg. any carapace weapon selected inherits the fixed forward arc of the carapace mount. That being the case, I'd say that AMTL weapons such as laser burners and CCW's would inherit the firing arc of the location they are placed on and that a savvy player could avoid the extra attacks those weapons provide by carefully placing units outside of the firing arcs.

I don't have any plans to change this.
Ah not so simple to change then.

Not if they lock you in B2B contact. Fairly sure you can't barge on a counter charge.

I'm fairly sure you can barge in a counter charge, so long as you're not locked (ie. have 2 x DC worth of enemy in closer combat - not impossible, but unlikely on a larger titan). That's how I normally see it played here.

The rules are specific to "charge moves", the say nothing about counter-charging.

Quote:
When a war engine charges it is allowed to bargeany non-war engine units belonging to the target formation out of the way and carry on with its charge move. Move the war engine as far as desired, and then place any units that were barged out of the way as close as you can to their starting point, while still touching the base of the war engine that so rudely pushed them aside. The maximum number of units a war engine can barge aside in this manner is two per point of its starting damage capacity. Note that war engines may not barge other war engines out of the way.

Nevermind found it in the FAQ that they can barge on countercharge.

Seems like you can pull some serious shinnanigans with barging on the countercharge to move out of FF range of enemy supporting fire or move enemy units into supporting fire Range of your stuff. Need a rule guru to weigh in.

No need - I checked and it's confirmed in a FAQ in the tournament pack:

Quote:
Q: Can a war engines barge units out of the way with a counter charge?
A: Yes.

Remember the WE must countercharge towards the closest enemies, just like any other counter charge.

Yep so I said already. But in B2B situations you often have several bases touching the warengine and wrapping around to some degree. Pick the direction directly towards one of the bases in a favorable direction that gets you out of or into favourable FF range.

I would interpret it so that all models in base contact are equally close, so it would counter-charge towards the next nearest enemy not in base contact. I see it could be played different ways though.

Whenever I got charged or charged there were always plenty of enemys.
So to say and don't forget Imperial Titans have 180° to the front, Orks 180° to the sides meaning that if you only attack the back of Imperials or the side with no CC Weapons from the Orks could be tipping the balance.

Remember also that if you enter the zone of control of a unit you must attempt to base it, in order of closeness. So even if you are counting the ones in base contact as an option to move towards, you still could only choose the direction if you are not in the zoc of another unengaged unit.
