I really want one of these but i dont like the GW model and i dont want to pay a fortune for it.
The only altenatives i can think of is the khador behmoth, the dark realm miniatures majestic (im using a mordent and a converted ironclad as warlords atm),but is there any better alternatives ????

cheers
matt

I've always wandered about the possibility of scratch building a torso and legs then mounting a Ramilies class star fort on the back.

It would be quite large but you could probably get away with calling it "true scale"

Its a lot easy to add to model like that, than to make your own. Just invest in a lot of styrene sheets and tube etc. Then get some blutac and start fiddling with what looks good.

Are you sure on that DRM miniatures walker? The largest walker is the Andrayada Majestic which the website lists as 9cm tall.
These are the heights of the titans I've got access to
Old Metal Warhound - 4cm to spike tip
FW Warhound - 4cm
GW Reaver - 5cm without top weapon
Plastic Beetleback Warlord - 5cm without top weapon
Current GW Warlord - 7cm
Plastic GW Imperator - 13cm to rear spire tips (12cm to front) with 8cm to the top platform.
The Majestic wouldn't fit in with the Warlord as it isn't bulky enough or have a towering height.. There is a nice gap though between the shoulders to mount an upper weapon platform but it would take some work.

I really think you're best scratch-building your own Emperor class.

It doesn't have to be that difficult either if you get a big variety-pack of plasticard and styrene extrusions and a couple of cheapish models to start from.

For example, upper legs and hips can come from a cheap robot toy and the lower legs from small dessert containers. By adding plasticard detailing, you could get quite a convincing approximation without too much work.

The weapons could be based on WH40k weapons (plastic SM Devastator Plasma Cannon for example), with rods or tubing for gatling or large-bore guns. A Catachan or Chimera Lasgun will do perfectly for the Defence Laser.

The head could be from another Imperial Titan (most are a similar size), a WH40k Defiler, a Chaos Warrior/Knight, etc, with some extra rivets and a little guitar wire.

The castle part is the trickiest to copy from looking at images of the built model, but there is a picture floating around somewhere of the sprue parts that make it, and they are not very hard to match/make yourself. It is basically an 'X' with towers at the corners, a dome in the middle and some crenellation details on the arms of the 'X'.

It will be some work, yes. But it is far from being very hard or too time-consuming if you plan a bit and get a good selection of bits ready. Also, remember that most of the effect is on simple detailing (rivets, skulls, eagles and crenellations) and on the paintjob.

You could always make up your own Lucius style pattern which makes it a bit easier with it being mostly angular rather than round.

Agreed, but you'd still need the same parts for the scratch build! ;)

WarmasterNice made one but his site seems to be down, I did find some pics on dakka though

If you're tempted an auction like the one below will be right up your street, the model is knackered missing parts and heavily painted. However all you'll want is the basic structure and perhapps the head which is all present. Dip it in a bit of brake fluid and away you go.

I think the DRM Majestic would make a good base for a conversion.

It would need to some interesting additions but it is a good size to start off with.

Cheers.

Id agree, the basic shapes are very easy, although i had a real one to copy from. The head and arm weapons would be the hardest.

for example, here is an emp titan torso + leg bastions blocked out in 1mm styrene (nurgle emp titan scratch-build i started and never finished last year :P ): Ive got a single page pdf of templates i drew to cut these bits out, if it'd be helpful in making your own PM me and i can email it.
