Tyranid Barrage Balloon For airpower nature cannot provide fast moving aircraft. A bird, or a harridan can only fly so fast no matter how hard it flaps its wings. Therefore a tyranid swarm would adopt a defensive strategy to count enemy airpower. One idea that came to me was a tyranid barrage balloon. Hundreds would float over a tyranid swarm, moving with the swarm, acting as an 'umbrella' against attack. Airstrikes and artillery shells would be intercepted by the balloons since they have weapons on them that shoot down incoming fighters, missiles, shells etc.

I really like that idea.
A possible mechanic might include an AA "shot" with Disrupt. Rather than it being a typical ranged weapon, the area covered by the range would be the area in which the balloons were flying and the "shot" would just be the risk of collision.
Simple concept that uses the existing mechanics to simulate a different type of effect.

Good idea One possibility I thought up was indeed a blimp with an AA weapon on top. Perhaps one small, vehicle sized, the other larger perhaps a WE.
