Hey dudes,

Just wondering if theres a decent tournament list out there for nids.

I played against them at cancon, didnt really know what they did and was waiting for shenanigans, but they never came. Felt like there wasnt much he could do and the game was fully on my terms.

Main thing was the lack of AA, Zoanthropes slowing down formations and being LV makes them pretty vunerable. And then the only other is on the Dominatrix.

Maybe im missing something but is this just a low tier army list no1 really runs? Does it need some love?

I assume NetEA? I've had a lot of success with the list below. 3-0 with a minor win on points and 2-1 at tournaments here in the US.

Swarm + dom
Swarm + hive tyrant + warrior + zoanthrope + carnifex + hausprex+ synapse
Swarm + hive tyrant + warrior + zoanthrope + carnifex + hausprex
Swarm + hive tyrant + warrior + zoanthrope + hausprex
Swarm
Trygon swarm
Heriodule
Harridan
Lictors + 1
Genestealers
Biovores +1

It's not an army that will do well with AA. I usually see that as more a bonus and take the zoanthrope for the MW attacks. The speed does stink a bit, no way around that. The generally idea is to overwhelm, your opponents target priority and to be very aggressive. That's why I bring lictors to teleport, trygons to tunnel, and several needed up attack swarms. As long as the synapse critters stay up, your ability to respawn more gribblies can help you win games of attrition. I've also had mild success with 4 strong dactylis formations, but they can be a little squishy at 400 pts. Again though, forcing your opponent to choose his targets while getting rushed. Turn 1 should always be a double if not a march, setting up the opportunity for multiple engagements since you will more often than not lose the strategy roll. They are definitely a force that requires some practice to get a feel for their style.

Hope it helps!

Sirdiealot is developing a list called Hivefleet Dagon that is based on the French list. He has done a great job with it so far and it looks very promising!

I ran something like this for most of our playtests:

http://traitor-legion.appspot.com/choos ... ~13x1~22x1

I had a pretty good record playing as the bugs, I'd have to dig through the battle reports to get an exact number for the more recent lists though. If I had to guess I'd say a somewhere in the 2:1 to 3:1 ratio range. Others in the group had less success when we swapped armies for the reports. Gunslinger has done well with them, however.

We can try them out on VASSAL sometime if you want.

I'm just going to proactively apologize for how terrible that section of the module is currently =/

Late game, retaining activation numbers.

What Dave said. Nids really shine on turn three and four when played ideally. The respawning gaunts and low rally rolls (assuming the synapse is alive) can make for formations bigger than your opponent's, and ideally more of them, giving you a stronger board presence down the stretch.
