The first EpicAU Army list is released!

Hive Fleet Behemoth includes old favourites from existing lists as well as some of the more modern Tyranid Bio forms. It introduces Bio-ships, Tyrannocytes, Tervigons, Venonmthropes, new Carnifex builds and Gargoyle swarms to the 6mm battlespace!

This army list allows for brand new Tyranid builds, including drop assault nids, spawning nids and viable mixed swarms. This is balanced with the re-introduction of "shoot the big ones" by making Tyranid Warriors LVs. This will add a new element to the list by reducing the effectiveness of the swarm spam lists, whilst also providing a viable alternative.

Start play testing and list hammering now so we can move the list from EpicAU: Theortical to EpicAU: Endorsed!

All comments and feedback welcome.

Cheers,
Jim

Hi Jim,

I am a rather pleased little termagant.
I find this list much more appealing as i've gathered the models for a nid army but they're yet to see a game due to how un enthused i am by the NetEA / Uk list. (Absolutely no offense to the AC's of those lists - just a picky person.)

So far my only concern that stands out is there's no limitation of 0-1 for space craft, might sound silly but there is always going to be that person who'll want to exploit something.

Thanks for your efforts, i'm loving the progression and growth of the EpicAU community.

Jim,

Looking good mate. Love the feel to the army and the focus on a different style of play with this one. It will be interesting to see how the drop assault component to the list plays out. The Sky Darkens, nice mate, very Dawn of War feel to the list. I will be nice to roll some dice on this one and get some feedback on the changes you are looking at and to validate some of the new concepts.

Sign me up as OPFOR with the usual suspects. I may even get a Nid army for this one.

Cheers
Cal

Hey Fudd,
Sorry dude, you gave me that feedback on 02 Aug and I forgot to add it into the list.
Yeah the ships are supposed to be 0-1 Space Craft. Not one of each.

Ill sort that out for 1.1.

Also the Tyrannocyte entry was getting to long so I shortened it to read only Aslt and Brute Swarm Units.
However as it is PLANETFALL only those units that can be transported in the space craft can be transported by the tyrannocyte. So no drop podding war engines!

Also you will not the Gargoyle swarm gargoyle upgrades are 25 points. This is intentional as the Skimmer Gargoyles flying around by themselves are more effective then just the add on gargoyles to the swarms.

Cheers,
Jim

Cheers Cal,

I might even let you roll the nids. You are the master of rapid maneuver!
We will have to throw it down next weekend.

Cheers,
Jim

The list does look like a lot of fun and I can't say I completely disagree with Fudd on the NetEA and UK lists. I am curious about the designation AU. Im assuming meaning Australia but just curious if you are looking at starting (or forgive my ignorance, continuing if that's the case) another alternate list system on top of UK/EA/FR?

Hey mate,
This is the first list from EpicAU.

There are a couple of others in development, but the intent is to plug holes in identified "gaps" and not create a whole new system. Everyone at EpicAU is still very committed to NetEA.

This is not a reaction to anything, but just as a result of some of the growing momentum of epic in the Australian scene and a desire to create an outlet where others can be involved in list development.

Our hope is that this will be a space for people to participate and build lists for local groups which may be able to be eventually used in the Australian east coast tourney scene. If others pick them up and use them then that's great for the community. But it is in no way designed to be seperate or usurp the position of NetEA. Just some Ozzie shenanigans.

Cheers,
Jim

This is the 3k list I was looking at fielding.

Large Aslt Swarm 350 [570] BTS
Hive tyrant 50
symbiote 50
venomthrope 50
carnifex 50
Gargoyle 20

Small Aslt Swarm 250 [320]
venomthrope 50
Gargoyle 20

Small Aslt Swarm 250 [300]
venomthrope 50

Small Aslt Swarm 250 [300]
venomthrope 50

Small Brute Swarm 200 [295]
3 carnies 45
Tyrannocyte 50

Large Brute Swarm 350 [490]
6 carnies 90
Tyrannocyte 50

Bio Ship - Cruiser 200 [200]

Gargoyle Swarm 225 [225]

Genestealers 150 [150]

Lictors 150 [150]

Although I could drop the 3 venomthropes off the small aslt swarms and get an extra lot of lictors or genestealers for extra board control.
That Large Aslt Swarm is a nasty looking formation. Same goes for the Large Brute Swarm!
Should get a play test in next weekend with Cal.
Cheers,
Jim

Fudd, I like it, now let's organize a game and get this shit happening!
This is the first time I've actually been interested in a Nid list, the EpicEA just seems rubbish and the EpicUK one, while pretty good, just doesn't have the feel is was after

I'm always a fan of introducing new units from 40k - I feel if we don't innovate the setting will stagnate.

I like the Tyrannocyte. Any plans to include the alternative build the sporocyst? Nids that drop in their own terrain could be interesting.

I like the list Jim.

I've been contemplating dropping to the smaller ship for some earlier action rather than 3rd turn slap fest.

Yeah fudd i think the cruiser is a more playable choice at the moment.

But whats peoples thoughts on the general vibe? Its been math hammered fairly heavily over the last few weeks as we tried to get the feel and the theme right, but hasnt been rigourously playtested.

Im concerned the large brute swarm may be a bit too ott in the tyrannocyte and that the tervigon might be a useless option. But possibly 12 termies and 3 large gribblies makes for a solid blitz guard or a resilient aslt unit. So again worthy of running through playtesting

Cheers
Jim
