Hi all,
I hope you like my Fire Prism entry into this year's competition. ?I'm planning on doing a webpage with the old WIP shots, and some information and advice on how to build/convert a model like this. ?But for now, here's a link to a temporary site with some more pics:

http://members.shaw.ca/seebaran/webpage.htm

My Webpage

Comments and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. ?I'd be happy to post a pic on mysite of a particular detail on the model, or describe the conversion steps if there are requests.

Sorry that my webpage skills are not up to par ...

PS:  Thanks Vanvlak for your advice with the banners.

Bye for now,

CF

Um, Epic scale model with LEDs????  :O  :O

For some reason, the pic links on your temp page come up as gibberish when I click them.

But _where_ did yo ge that wonderful crystal? I've been hunting for something like that for some time but all I've found are for DIY jewelry and, thus, have holes in the middle.  :(

What ??? This should not be! ?Can other people see the pics?

I made the "crystal" myself from resin, from a mould I made. ?I'll explain how to do this on the site.

Thanks,
CF

How cool is that, insanity is growing in leaps and bounds.
The pics (excepting the second last) are ok for me.

VERY impressive work! I'm amazed you managed to fit all those worky bits into a single epic model.

Pretty nice painting too!

How long was the build time for the electronics side of things in this?

They do in Firefox, but work fine in IE (I have no idea!).

Thanks TS! :D

But you really don't want to know how long it took to do this ?:p ?
I actually did try to time this, to see if I could stomach doing another one. ?I think I lost count after about 15 hours. ?If I had to guess, I'd say the entire piece (start to finish) took about 20-30 hours, but who really knows. ?However, most of that was planning, testing things out, and other inefficient stuff. ?If I was to do another one (from scratch, but without a good display base and no painting), I'd say:
Drilling: 30 mins (no need to freeze the patient  )
Canopy and cockpit detail: 2-3 hours
Prism gun and electronics (including mold): 4-8 hours
Cockpit, engine and internal electronics: 2hours

I've tried to fix the viewing problems by pasting them directly into the site, and the pics should load now. ?Or, try viewing them at photobucket at:

http://s88.photobucket.com/albums/k193/CanucksFan2006/

I'm going to start doing the article of how to do the fire prism very soon. ?Does it seem to work to paste the pics directly into the webpage as I've done? ?Or, is it easier to direct people to the photobucket site. ?As you can tell, I'm terrible with designing a webpage.[V]

Thanks,
CF

I have a blog that, amongst other things, is a diary of my painting of Delta Company of Battleforce Floyd. ?I also have a gallery showing my progress.

That Fire Prism is very impressive, CF - not just as a piece of (somewhat insane) modelling, but also in terms of painting.  If I'm honest, the pic you've posted in the EpiComp thread doesn't do it justice compared to the others on your page.

Anyway, nice work!

Now we've had a winner for the SG Titan competition, those of us that lost  :(  are free to enter our Titans into EpiComp. So I'm going to get the ball rolling and enter my Reaver Titan now.
I'd feel sorry for poor old Warmaster Nice, who is going to have to build something new instead, but I suspect those 3000 points will be some consolation!
Regards,
Reaver
