When you have time to respond, could you look at the club forum?

Thanks for the feedback. I'll try to update the PDF today.

***Edit***
I've updated the file attached in the first post, and added in some different commentary on the Triumphs, based on feedback here and on the EpicAu site. Basically the Bloodthirsty and Indomitable Triumphs have been toned down (re-rolling 1's to hit rather than all misses, and no re-rolling reinforced armour), and the player with the lower number of activations in their army (not deployed) gets the triumph.

On plague zombies, I'd probably play it something like this.
The models count for denying objectives to the opponent, but not for claiming it. So if I have 5 swooping hawks within 15cm of an objective, and you have three plague marines and three plague zombies, neither of us can claim it. You count as 6 vs my 5 for me trying to claim it, but you count as 3 vs my 5 for you trying to claim it. Do you think that would work?

I think the wraithgate needs some testing. I'd probably just play it so that one objective in or touching the owning players half can be the wraithgate. If you played it so that the objective had to be wholly within the owning players half then Escallation and Three Places of Power wouldn't allow wraithgates. Gift From The Heavens is odd, but you don't have a lot of control where your wraithgate is, and it shows up on turn two. I don't have a good feel for the implications of the wraithgate being set up right on the centre line in these missions.

On Garrisons, I'd play it as written in the Tournament Rules, but play it so that objectives touching your half count as in your half, same as the wraithgate above. So garrisons can be set up within 15cm of objectives on the centre line. You can basically do that in the current scenario. That means that you can't garrison in the Gift From the Heavens scenario.

Oops. I should have made it clear that most of my feedback was specific to Border War. I've not been considering how they would apply to the other missions!

'Contest but not hold' units - that would work. Halving the number seemed easier, but has the downside of letting them hold on their own.

Wraithgates - from a purely pragmatic point of view, I'm inclined to divorce them from the objective positions totally, and have it as a non-objective that's placed more than 30cm from the enemy territory.

Garrisons - as someone who runs heavily garrison-based forces, being able to garrison off objectives on the midline is simply not going to be fun for the opponent. >:D This might have to be something that has to be specified separately for each mission.

No worries Ian. The feedback is relevant to the other missions too.
That would work for the wraith gate. I'll need to meditate on garrisons a little more. :)

Obviously heavily inspired by Matty_C's work, here's the draft version of what we're planning to use for one round of an EpicUK tournament in May: http://ijw.on-rev.com/temp/exeterminatu ... r_v0.2.pdf

One of the main changes we're trying is moving the midline objectives further apart, but we'll see how it goes. Personally I quite like the big punch-up in the middle that results from the closer objectives, but it does give assault-heavy armies a distinct advantage.

2k batrep: http://wargamingtrader.com/epic-batrep- ... what-scars

Bigger distances between the objectives definitely helped it be less centre-heavy, plus we made sure there was a big block of area terrain right in the middle.

As far as the game went, a tactical error with the Thunderhawk plus poor saves by the White Scars plus my usual excellent* saves for the Death Guard meant that it went 18:7 to me, although the fourth turn would probably have taken that to 26:9.

*Apart from the Plague Tower getting hit six times and failing two 4+/4+/6+ saves, then getting hit twice and dying to cascading criticals!

Great report Ian! It was very clearly written and it was very easy to see what was happening. Thanks very much for going to the trouble!
It sounds like the mission went ok, losing that thunderhawk assault was pivotal, so the result seems reasonable.
Any feedback from you guys?

Also sorry I haven't commented sooner, I've been quite busy with real life issues.

Cheers!

*edit* also those were some tough tree trunks! Racked up quite a tally! :D
