Well, they are for 6mm soldiers, of course it is a small market [badum-TISH] Thank you, I'll be here all week.

Maybe we can convince them otherwise?

I'm hardly a whole-sale customer, but I'd definitely be down for 12 of each.

could always set it up for Print on Demand?

Or a pre order experiment?

I didn't perceive there being much interest in them considering how other similar aesthetic designs i've released have been less than well received.

Maybe I could stick them in the up coming funder and see what happens.

That's the second time I've seen you mention an up coming crowd funder, did I mis something?

No sir you haven't, I have a IGG crowd funder I hope to launch in a week or so for a bunch of 6mm items that needs manufacturing.

You will see more news on that as we get closer to the launch date, obviously we will be posting a link and updating the thread as things progress.

Cheers

I'm not too keen on print-on-demand, the stuff I've got so far seems a bit brittle for gaming pieces.

I'd definitely back a crowdfunder, if I could get some KV-2s I mean Ragnaroks...

Nice design but some questions.
If the tank drove over rough ground you would rip the engine off since the rear tracks are not out far enough.
You have 8 tracks touching level ground could you increase that to 10 it would reduce the track angle and produce a lower weight ratio to track area = more realistic .
Are the 2 small turrets remote controlled or are they crewed? If crewed they are too small.
Can the main turret turn and fire its main gun to -15 degrees without hitting the smaller turrets.
The add on missile pod when fired would bother the commander if he was in the hatch due to the fire, smoke it produced maybe move it farther back.
The original KV that this tank was based on has a very strong gun mantle you have a huge shell trap just above the gun on this design.

Sorry if I nitpick I do know this subject well.

John actually wanted the hull even smaller. It's already between the Centurion and Tribune size wise. Increasing it would make it too big. Besides, since when has realism ever been a thing here?

Not meant to be crewed. Automated I guess.

Very true, I'm kinda running into this problem. Will need to look into it again...

Missile pod is removable, similar to the design of the Tribune's turret (see crowdfunder). The missile pod can be replaced for a stormbolter like turret, machine gun turret, smoke launcher or targeting device.

How do you mean exactly?

Feedback is always good. I do notice that being a specialist in certain topics can be both a blessing and a curse in this sort of thing.

I won't worry the KV 2 wasn't the best designed tank, as I recall if it traversed its turret on a slope it had the tendency of toppling over.

Shell trap is where the armour will direct incoming shells onto a weak spot. On the above design you have a walled area which will cause a shell to bounce around and penetrate via the top of the gun. Gun mantles were designed to deflect shells away or be thick enough to resist.

Why not move the turrets to side sponsons as this seems to be a recurring feature?

Though I'm by no means as expert as many others here, I thought I might add a few thoughts too (since I'm not too late, at least :P).

With things like suspension and track sizes, I've always figured that the ridiculous designs of 40K tanks (by modern standards) are ameliorated by the commonplace advanced technology around. After all, the biggest issues in the 41st millennium are surely things like space travel (inertial dampeners, shielding against micro-impacts, FTL—bad tanks can actually exist, those three we don't have any way of making today). For the mobility issues, is the tank supposed to be able to traverse rough ground independently, or is there maybe an army of mooks digging it out of holes? Or perhaps it's supposed to get to a static firing position and act as a bunker? If not something like that, maybe SquatWarlord's suggestions would make it look more mobile?

The shell trap spot (hard to miss once it's pointed out :P) could be another one of those technology things, or perhaps the strongest armour is, in fact, over the turret and the side projections are more deformable (so they direct fire less effectively)? I wonder if a mantlepiece might be more in character though?

On the turrets, I actually like the idea of them being in the above-hull position: it seems to make more sense for general tank designs to give them better fields of fire (so long as the turret is high enough). Their positioning could use some tweaking though, to my humble eye, but to me the design looks more in-character without the side sponsons.

For the top hatch, I think we might assume that the heroic commander either doesn't pop their head up when missiles are firing (that seems sensible with today's technology :P), and that they only need to pop out for heroic, inspiring moments, and have some sort of detection gear inside.

Anyways, perhaps some food for thought! (: Thank ye to SquatWarlord for sharing the expertise, too!

Some ideas move the mg turrets a bit forward.
Tilt the engine block and exhaust up to a level position, this will reduce the part sticking out near the tracks and it will not block the turret.
I don't think you are making this a speedy tank.
If you Put two more tracks touching the ground one on the front and one on the rear it will make the track angle less and make the tank look more solid. It will also help with the engine problem.
Cheers

What about making the main turret larger and putting the mg out the sides without the smaller turrets

Agree with all the suggestions, not fully sure yet about the turrets. That's something for Moredakka to decide. :)

I will try to experiment a bit with it once I've got some time. :)

Post subject:  Re: Malika's workshop (models for Vanguard Miniatures)

I mistook the position of that round part of the turret and thought it was supposed to be the axle of the turret traverse :$

SW's changes look simple and sensible to me, too (for what it's worth) though I do kind of like the chunky '40K' look versus the 'flat, ordinary' look of the actual thing (which will be preserved with those small changes, of course).

Functionality-wise, I prefer the MG turrets on the hull. MG turrets on the main turret are nifty in their own way, but then they're kind of tied to the main turret's direction (even if they swivel, they have to move every time the turret moves, and their range of fire might be compromised—but a computer could fix most of that). For the aforementioned, waffly reasons I've said before :P I do like the idea of hull turrets. For tall 40K tanks, though, side sponsons do cover a vulnerability.

I wonder what it would be like if the MG turrets were on the front corners (with some extra fortification)? Trade turret protection for field of fire?
