The model looks amazing, but there's quite a lot of visible weaponry for a Q ship?

The idea is that the weaponry is hidden inside the hull/prow of the ship. It's only visible because the ship's hatches are opened. Also, I guess the model could also be used as a Defence Monitor.

By the way, the model is almost finished:

A few things that still need to be done:
(1) Tweaking some of the details
(2) Making an enclosed prow variant (where you don't see any weapons protruding)
(3) Make two bits to enclose the top part of the hull, to make it seem as if the turrets are hiding down below in the hull.

Now that's cool.

Being able to switch prows mid game as the Q ship is revealed would be a fun option. A few magnets might do the trick.

Oh man, I haven't even thought of that! That would be really cool!

In the meantime, wanted to share the four different prow variants:

Side views on the left, frontal views on the right. Clockwise:
  • Top left: enclosed prow (weapons hidden)
  • Top right: torpedo prow
  • Bottom left: lance prow
  • Bottom right: turret prow

That's really nice looking warship. Switchable prow - it's an interesting idea.

Early version of a heavy tank for the Skinnerz, your thoughts?

Good start but the guns look a bit too fixed in place - a bit of traverse to either side and up and down would help. Perhaps a wider chassis to allow teams of crew orks to push the gun carriage to the right or left in true crude orky fashion (like in the Age of Sail) and to make it more massive/brutish/orky. Or, maybe, fix the big gun in place and have the gatlings be in a separate traversable turret on the deck above the main gun.

These'll be available at Vanguard Miniatures from tomorrow...

Not sure yet when the bombers will be out, but I was curious if anybody would like to see a 6mm version of this one?

I know I would but only if the missile banks weren't so pronounced. It is supposed to operate also in atmosphere (Yeah, I know that Javelin extensively uses anti-grav technology and those beast would also be using it.) so give it wings.

BTW, great warships. Maybe someday I will collect BFG fleet afterall... :D

So pull back the missile banks and add some additional wings?

Yes, please! Or maybe incorporate them in that vertical panels behind cockpit?

Respectfully, I actually disagree with @brother_bethor: I think the distinctive shape comes out really well in the master and having bigger wings would detract from that.

Though I suppose you could justify it by making the 6 mm version more of a ground-attack version, so you could do something different with the missiles/weapons (and I suppose you could add a defensive weapon? Though that's probably not needed if the missiles look like they could engage fighters). Maybe for wings, you could make them longer along the body of the craft, and only a little more protruding, so it would look a bit like a flying saucer:

([])

(my extravagant ASCII version :P). Anyway, I mean you could give it a roughly circular profile with longer wings that have curved tapers.

The spaceships look pretty swish, too! It will be ace one day when someone has made matching battleships for all their nifty smaller ships!

PS: Having now been to Specialist Arms again and seen the 6 mm prototype, I can say that I still very much like the same profile carried over. Like I suggested there, the prototype chin cannon looks a little flimsy, so I was wondering if wing turrets kind of above the missile section might be interesting? Possibly partially recessed. The chin cannon could look snazzier if it was a bit more solid, I think.

Alternatively, perhaps you could incorporate the cannon variety as a hybrid bomb/gunship for escort duties?

I have to agree on not enhancing the wings, though I would be interested in seeing some mock ups to change my mind.

In general though, a 6mm version would be ace. I like having the same unit in multiple scales.
