The winter troops helmets are based heavily on WW 1 french helmets in fact the whole uniform is french based so i'm not likely to change that now as it would make any updated minis too different to the existing models. Have to keep new compatible with old as much as possible.

I'm happy to receive suggestions and ideas so no worries keep em coming I do take customer feedback seriously even if such suggestion are not acted on.

Regards

Okay, I see what you get. You megred WWI French helmet (Adrian Helmet) and German Stahlhelm plus DKoK one and you got Novan.

This is just a small detail, barely visable especially on the table top. I think I can make an ilusion of helmet being a little more blocky just by paintwork.

As for more suggestions I like the idea of badass commanders, so why not make someone like him or this guy. Second one is just wearing a front armour, that is the only major difference.

Also, as far as I knwo there no standard grunts figures, I mean no gasmasks etc. so why not make some?
Possibilities are endless ;)

My suggestion is to make them look like WWII Germans, wearing Stahlhelm helmets.

As for the Stahlhelms, I've got a feeling the Skinnerz will be wearing those. ;)

Am I dreaming it or did you mention at one time or another doing a rework of the Kakapo/Moa design at some point in the future?

The aesthetic of the Kakapo is fantastic (I love that it's a bit Harrier Jumpjet with a bit of A10 Warthog thrown in) but I'm terribly clumsy you see, so I'm having casualties among the tails due to my kakhandling of the little beauties. Being on flight stands doesn't really help but try as I might I still manage to scatter them with a wayward elbow or something.

Are there any plans to rework the design and strengthen the area?

Yes sir already have the new kakapo model at the casters next up will be the moa.

We thickened the tail booms and extended the horizontal stabilisers along them to add strength to the whole area if this dosen't work then nothing will.

Really nice print.

Can you give me a comparison shot, just for my own curiosity? (I'd normally buy a bunch but I have 12 FW ones already in the fleet-I'm "airmobile" enough ;D )

Tangential: We really need some "regular" novan regulars infantry in the coming year. We've got the excellent Royal Marines (Regular, Winter, and Desert) and Novan Infantry (Winter and Desert) but not the PBI. Any chance of seeing them (yes I understand that was supposed to of been the plastics but that ended up the way it ended up)

Jimmy i'll see if I can find an older model to photograph i'm not sure there are any left.

As for regular infantry rest assured they are planned along with many other figures i'd like to do next year.

Winter troops news, as everyone knows there is an issue with these figures ankles being weak so some breakages can occur at the moment i'm adding an extra sprue to each infantry pack to help cover this issue.

So anyway i've been working with ben to re-work the figures to resolve this issue here we have in ben's own words and explanation of the changes and an image to compare.

We've kept the original aesthetic as far as practical so the old and new figures should mix together no problem.

Changes include:

Proper hands instead of blocks.
More form-fitting coats instead of "bell shaped" coats.
Minor mod to the rifle.
Pose changes to be more dynamic (old figures all stood pretty straight up, these are now hunching forwards a bit.
Minor detail realignments (shoulderpads, head tilts, etc).

Overall they're pretty much the same as the long-established popular Winter Infantry sculpts, just a bit better quality, and obviously with the weak ankles dealt with. Not a huge update, but a needed one.

This would probably break my resolve and make me up my guard infantry to krieg levels (had compared the old ones to the gw plastics and they previously looked a little weedy).

Presumably with the new printing they would also be a little smoother and a little taller?

The current Vanguard ones are 4th generation recasts, so there should be a marked increase in quality and a very slight increase in size (recasting tends to shrink the model a couple of % points).

This is the whole new infantry squad i've started doing squad sprues as you'll have noticed with a few other infantry developments so there will be four 10 man squads in a pack now.

Ultimately i'll re-model the whole winter troops range.

Will the price remain the same?

Make it a 12 man sprue, that way players can field normal 10 man infantry squads without heavy weapons of they want. Those who do want the rocket launcher in their squads then have two figures as bonus for other modelling purposes

I have mixed feelings about the rocket launcher.
It is nice addition and many people will like it but on the other hand we get less ordinary infantrymen.
I also dont like the it's design. It doesnt suit DKOK theme in my opinion. I would prefer something like panzerfaust or RPG or just thinner version of this rocket launcher.
Personaly I would enjoy more heavy MG team rather than an anti tank launcher. Something like heavy stubber (not twin) would be nice, or an anti tank rifle.

Also, I think kneeling figure with rocket launcher would look better than standing ;)
