Aaaargh - now I see a duck on the overlay one. I thought the original Jackal head was pretty good except for the sad eyes and the muzzle could have been a little narrower/sharper... With the overlay one - eyes tilted upward at the outer corners? Give it more of a nose than a bill by having a nasal ridge (and also have it be less broad just in front of the eyes). Maybe do something for the "ears" to be less Princess Leia-like...

AAAARRRRGGGHHH, thanks for that duck reference can't unsee it now and I was fairly happy with this one until I read your post. :(

Now I need to re-think it. :-\

Cheers

@malika2, you'd be better of asking Don that question, I don't think they've even been printed yet nevermind in production.

Talking of onslaught i've received confirmation that my batch of new releases has been dispatched.

Jackal stalker new arched foot design, this should give a much greater range of poseability for this model and the removal of the hydraulic's makes it look lighter I feel.

Thoughts.

But with no hydraulics how does it move? Is it pulled along by invisible fairies?

Couldn't say. :P but it does allow a greater range of movement and if you want hydraulics you can always add them with brass rod. I have found that the moulded on hydraulics on the other models greatly restrict what you can do with the feet positions on those models and I have tended to snip the hydraulics away in order to get the angle I want to the feet.

This foot design is inspired by the mars pattern scout titan from FW no one has had issue with that designs feet, well not that I know of anyway. One of the pitfalls of sharing new designs with the public for opinions is that everyone wants something different. This model was pretty much finished and I was happy with it at the time which is why it was shared with the community. Then people had issues with the head so I changed that then someone said the feet did not convey a sense of a speedy machine so I had a scout designs feet translated across and now no one is satisfied with that either. Maybe I should have just left it as it was in the beginning it would have been cheaper for me as I would not have had to go back to the designer for additional work to be done on it. Lesson learned I think.

Anyway this model will be seeing the light of day soon, hopefully I can get it printed and in production within the next few months dependant on the casting companies workload.

Fairly quiet here at vanguard this week were have all my wonderful customers gone. :(

Understand the need to advertise but I can't spend all day updating every site, forum and games page i'd get nothing else done besides I was assured Facebook would put me on the map buy i've noticed no appreciable difference in traffic on my site since getting a FB page rolling or difference in the number of orders made in a typical week so what can I do. :-\

Respectfully, that's not really how content strategies work ("put a page up and then it just goes on autopilot"). I do feel you around the fact that you can't sit on every forum on everyday. Things like this are more around gathering general awareness and that they are a system that requires active cultivation. Two things immediately are clear:

1. having a set of individuals that can be, for a lack of a better term, deputized for communication and dedicated to particular groups and boards and channels. After all, you can't spend all day doing just that.
2. In social media, content is key. Things have quick easy ability to be shared into appropriate groups and systems will have a cumulative effect. For instance, "Building an army", "6mm paining", and showcase posts are really needed. Of course, those future release posts (which you've started) are important and great to start with. Build on them. The key to things like FB and G+ are active participation into the appropriate groups. For instance, Kyuss or L4 or myself could share stuff but seeing the reactions and direct communication with the people replying to those shared posts is vital to attracting new customers and garnering that good rep for Vanguard that you already have here at TacComs.

it takes time to build a head of steam. You'd be surprised just how much general awareness the AoT guys generated off the Dakka News and Rumor's thread. I quietly watched a very effective pattern of information release that kept them on the 1st page for long periods. You own the fluff for DiD now. Build on that. Just who are the Novans? Where's the mystery on the Cybershadows? Also play up the official distrubutorship of OSM angle as well. You want a steady stream.

You're doing a great job, mate! Don't get down on yourself nor discouraged.

Let me give a concrete example of what I'm talking about in #2 above.
On facebook there's this gyu Cèd Mandon who is part of EpicFr and has been all over the place in various groups showing off his awesome Tallarn built with the Novan Desert infantry line. Fantastically painted and executed force. I'd be 1:1 with him to get permission to show off his skillz and painted units of your line as a showcase content post. "Look at Cèd Mandon who is usin gour 'Novan Desert Infantry [link] to create a 6mm army". Not only do you get the "ohhhhhhhhhhhhh awwwww" type reactions but in return do you think perhaps you've made an friend in Cèd Mandon by doing so? Nothing more loved by modeler thatn some public praise. How much more inclined do you think hell be to keep buying, recomending, and sharing you content in the future then? :D

The thing is, here on tac, you're not really getting to many people. Dakka is arguably the most used site and if your posted there and even interacted a bit your customer base would most likely increase drastically, especially with specialist games coming back.

yeah the fact that Dakka doesn't segregate the top of the site (the news and dakka discussion areas specifically) by game system nor scale is a massive boon to getting noticed.

Hey chaps I hear you and it's sound advice for sure my main problem is time of which i've little spare. I have a regular job during the day and we are not allowed phones and cannot log on either so I cannot respond to messages/questions until the evenings/weekends. Being out of communication for up to ten hours a day is a nightmare which means during the evening I spend upwards of two to three hours sometimes just sorting mail, and then printing off orders to pick and pack after that. This leaves zero time for any major online antics. Just keeping orders sorted and the inventory at a reasonable level takes most of my time.

Guess what i'm saying is I don't really have time to get on all these sites, forums, blogs etc to meet these people. Always considered Tac Coms as the main place focal point frequented my epic players/collectors with most other gaming areas pretty ignorant of or uninterested in epic or 6mm sci fi in general.

Obviously 6mm sci fi has had a little up turn resently what with new rules from various sources and AoT too of course.

Maybe you guys could direct me to gamers like Mr Mandon, any help in that regard would save me much time. One of the reasons for adding a gallery to my site was to get painted customer armies on display but that is all dependant on people offering my their photos in the first place. A few guys contributed and that was it.

Now if you wonderful people were to buy a gazillion new armies between yourselves then I could afford to quit my job and dedicate all my days to the business including much time browsing the web and generating interest. ;)

Thanks guys
