@odinfellhammer they are actually production casts from a test mould, so they will be like those you see in full production. We will however probably drop the light and the sat dish from the Viridian APC and do them as a metal expansion set as part of the free stretched goals.

Apologies if that has been asked before, but what should we expect in regards of play time for a game of AoT?
Are we looking at a fast pace with maybe a turn limit (less then 1-2 hours) or longer strategic battles (2-3 hours)?

I'd think the market could definitely do with a shorter/faster game, as there are many 'time intensive' games already. :)

It's lovely seeing 6mm infantry with a bit of variety - when I were a lad they were all single pose. =P

@MrGonzo, I think you may be in luck sir ;D company actions (core company of 16 bases per side) with be about an hour, larger games take longer but not linearly, i.e. twice the force doesn't take twice the time, since there tends to be a critical breakdown with command and control which usually brings things to a catastrophic conclusion rather than a slow slogging match. The game is still strategic however, it's not about lucky die rolls and uber-weaponry, its about clever tactical use of combined arms and a sound strategic overview.

@Stormwind, thanks for the kind words and yes I mind those days too ;) we've not gone too mental on lots of alternate poses but hopefully enough to create a bit of movement in the look of the units/bases.

Thanks for the comments folks

Yep, we're hoping for about an hour for a company vs. company game on a 4x4 playing area after you set up terrain (which can be a bit "how long is a piece of string?" ;) ). The rules are subject to change as we're doing final polish, so I'm planning to test the theory on the time this week to see how it goes.

Cheers,

Glad to hear this. Thanks, chaps.
An hour per full size game sounds really promising and could help getting more people interested, as it would help with limited hobby time/competing with the time commitment for other games.

Personally would also be much more interested playing several games an evening (compared to one 2-3h game) or more then 3 rounds of play during a regulate tournament. :)

Looking forward to give the rules a try when the final version gets released.

Take it that the Koralons will see a release in the future?
How about Triards and Neo-Isks?

I must admit this looks intriguing and I like your approach, will look forward to the KS. Looking at your Urban War universe is it safe to assume you will expand to more factions in the future?

Secondly I'm sure if this question hasn't been asked already it will come up again and again, but as you know many of the people on these boards have several armies for Epic and so it would be useful to understand how easy it will be to proxy other miniatures with your set of rules. I would likely collect one or two faction from your set but at the same time have multiple armies for Epic that I would like to continue to use.

Thanks in advance.

@JJMicromegas, yep, if all goes well with the Kickstarter we'll be expanding the lines, including new rules and units for the starting factions, and we'll look at advancing the timeline to include other Urban War factions, watch out for updates on this in future. As for proxying other minis, all our minis are mounted on 50mm square bases, so you'd need to mount them on such bases--this will affect contact with obstacles, movement on difficult terrain and LOS. Of course it's probably easier to use our official minis ;-)

I guess end of the day, one can just place Epic miniatures on single 50mm square mdf pieces to play AoT.
Slotting several 40x10 Epic bases together would make for a painful moving phase. ;)

Asked this question in the rules thread but maybe better placed here.
How many regular infantry models per base would you suggest?

@MrGonzo
Sorry for the delayed reply I've been away on family business back in the UK.
Most faction standard troopers come 12 to a base, however Junker's look much better when there are loads on them, so we're opting for 24 per 50mm base for these.
Specialist troops such as drop troopers, snipers etc tend to be 8 per base.
Hope that helps

Many thanks.
That provides a better mental image of how armies would look.

Hmm. That does sound like a LOT to paint per playing piece, though.
