Hi,

Anybody else missing sentinels from the TechGuard list? Or is it just me:)

Hi!

I think you are correct, but I'll double check.

Had a look in the old 3.0 rules, they are not there. So it is probably not an error.

But I really think they should be there!

A Sentinel seems a poor substitute for a Knight, especially for the only Imperial faction that can field Knights. My thought is that having a Sentinel would be superfluous when Knights are around, and would not help at all when herding Dinosaurians, so they don't bother.

Still, that said, you could always have an allied Imperial Guard Company with Sentinel Support if needed.

Hi!

Not necessarily. There a few persistent typos due to copy/paste over the versions.

I've downloaded the NetEpic Gold correction Document and I've sent it to players from my group and all of them where stunned by non linked plasma weapons...After 2 mails exchanged we agreed that they should be limited to 1 max per titan.

We simply did the math and a warlord with 3 non linked plasma destructor and 1 fire control center costs:

500 + 225+225+225+75 = 1250 points

1250 points for 12 shots at 100cm that hit on 2+/-6.

Some may say that it costs 1250 points but this warlord could destroy so many things in a single activation each turn that it seems way to overpowered!

Limit to 1 max per titan may be a solution.

About Sentinels in Tech Guard, I don't remember they have existed in any version. E:A lists creators added them to get an easy and cheap activation for their list.

Hi!

That is more a problem of net epic's old point system than it is the weapon itself. Under Magnus' point cost formula such a titan is staggeringly expensive, but under the net epic pricing scheme its just "costly", but perhaps not costly enough.

Your restriction seems good enough (1 per titan), given the limitations of the old cost system.

I suspect a lot of the "newer" stuff proposed will only be balanced under the new formula and "problematic" when adjusted to the old way of pricing things.

Actually, as far as Sentinels and Robot in Tech-Guard perhaps the best way to determine that would be as per what Mattman is doing with Platinum. That is, are they available to Tech-Guard (IE Adeptus Mechanicus) in 40K?

Aside from that question, I'd say no in both cases as they were not there in 2nd edition. That said, if your gaming group is fine with you having them, then it really isn't a problem.

As to the Plasma Destructor being 'un-linked' in Gold, well, perhaps the cost is just too low then. Play around with higher costs and see if you can find a cost that fits better with their power. Limiting it to one per Titan could work, but seems to arbitrary to me. Increasing the cost would be better.

I've recently started an Ad-Mech force using my left over IG models, all was going well, i had;

A Stormblade company
Tech Guard heavy weapons platoons
support in the form of Hellhounds, Hydras, Marauders, leman russ, griffons etc.
some knights and of course Ad-mech units!

Supported by Titan Battle groups/support titans

However it definitely seems like a list lacking a real identity/character at the moment however - it reads like a slightly beefed up Imperial Guard force with a few fancy toys but less variety.

What with the recent Warhammer 40k, and Epic Armageddon love the Ad-Mech is receiving i think it would be cool to re-visit this army and give it some of specialist units that set it apart, even things like robots, sentinels, rapiers etc would be a good start.

There are some great old models out there like AT/SM1 era-robots, support weapons, and new proxies from the likes of Troublemaker games that are begging to be given a new lease of life in NetEpic i reckon.

So - is it a case of wait for NEP or is there an appetite to make these sort of army book revisions before the Platinum release?

I think the AdMech need a massive overhaul there has been a lot of background made available and it should be used to make a force that has its own identity.

they use the Kiros as a MBT and the Triaros armoured conveyor as a transport

Hi!

I think you are correct, it does need a overhaul. :)

I'm content with it being fairly focused as it is currently. IMO the focus of an Adeptus Mechanicus force should be on the Knights & Titans, with the rest being used to compliment. I don't see any need to add existing Guard models (Robots, Sentinel, etc) as that would dilute the focus of the list. However, adding the newer stuff could be helpful, especially if instead of just straight adding we instead replaced the old for the new. For example, replace the Chimera variants with Triaros.

Sorry - after re-reading my post i don't think i was clear;

I used sentinels/robots as examples of models that are used to represent Ad-Mech Specific units from the lore, such as Iron Striders and Forgeknights.

I also think that the Support weapons like rapiers, tarantulas etc have traditionally been manned by ad-mech crew attached to IG/SM forces, so makes sense that they could field them by themselves, so their absence is strange.

The last thing i would want would be to bundle in any more random IG units, as like its been said, this simply dilutes the list to being a derivative of the IG one (i think it is almost in that state as it is).

Would be intrigued to here if anyone has used the army much and how they use them, as i think currently they lack any kind of fast/cheap recon units to grab objectives, so i could see them as almost Squat like, but missing the bikers?

Ah, gotcha. I'm really not at all familiar with the new Ad-Mech lore. All I know (and care) about them dates back to 1st to 3rd edition W40K. Thus I had no frame of reference to realize you were using them as proxies. Sounds like a good idea though.

That said, I have no problem with adding things in from the new lore. Well, aside from finding models.

In my view, an Ad-Mech and/or Titan Legion army doesn't really care about having fast/cheap forces, though a Mechanized Assault Platoon fairly well qualifies for that role. They focus on blasting the enemy to smithereens via out Titan-ing the foe. Knights help with that too.

That said, the last real-world actual-tabletop game I've played with them was waaaay back during Titan Legions, using 2nd edition rules. Had an Imperator, a Titan Defense Company, half a dozen Warlords or so, and a few other miscellaneous forces. I have no recollection of how the game went, but the focus was more on blowing things up than on capturing objectives. At least it was for my side...
