No stygian love guys, come on??

Anyways, had a thought for making a command style barge, I am going to use one of the Parasite Rigs with two rifles and replace the center gunner, should be pretty cool when it's done, but we'll see!

I know it's not the best picture, but here is a rough idea of what I'm thinking.

Ok, so massive noob question here, but I'm trying to figure out what some of the models would be good proxies for. I'm ok with a few, but I'm not that familiar with DE. Anyone got a list?

I am thinking this:

Hunters Warriors
Phantoms Incubi
Butchers Mandrakes
Carvers Haemonculi
Gargoyles Scourges
Hellions
Slayers Wyches
Ghast Reavers
Revenants Ravagers
Phantom Raiders
Parasite Talos

I would use Carvers as Wracks personally, but not sure what I'd do for haemonculi.

Maybe this discussion is better in the EA forum or Dark Eldar Army forum?

Thank you.

I had great base material to work with thanks to Deacon. Whatever he's doing to design, mould and produce these is working great!

The details are strong and clear, at no point was I painting and found that the hands holding the rifles were not distinct so I was easily able to pick out where to paint the rifles black and where to leave the hands, etc.

There are a lot of small detail on them as well, sort of small ribs on their back around where you might find a space marine backpack, I didn't do much with those but the large amount of bits like that meant a wash+dry brush approach worked a dream.

When I first opened them up I was quite worried about the joins where the side sails meet the main body, it's a ball and socket joint. First glance it felt like it would be quite weak, like the side sails would forever be coming off snagged on foam packing or picked up with too much force. After painting them and handling them I am still a little bit over careful perhaps but I'm not too worried about the side sails falling off through normal use.

I would prefer though if the side sails were joined by a sort of L shape connector or a plug into a hole than the ball. The ball isn't bad by any stretch of the imagination but it means that getting the sails on each side to both be aligned the same means you have to try and align in 3 dimensions which means holding it in a common reference point on both sides which is awkward when there's some super glue involved!

Thanks for the great feedback! The ball-and-socket joint was decided upon by the community after an angle for the side sails could not be agreed upon lol. In retrospect, I kind of wish I had gone with a fixed position.

I haven't put together THIS model but after literally 3 decades of modeling I've done my fair share of ball/socket joints. The use of pining joints is incredibly important and when viewed with the flexibility they add to the model, well worth it. A pin vice is one of the most important tools in your arsenal :)
