I'm thinking their weapons would look less like staves and more like some kind of control interface? Perhaps they're more like magicians, holding their fingers out as they're using their cheat codes on reality?

Unless they're slumming it, Predator style, and actually carrying Physical weapons, of course

There's the trick - a race that has mastered time and space really wouldn't need a battlefield presence - so I have to shackle them a bit to give them a reason to exist in miniature form!

How's about either an integrated weapon in a mace or axe head. Or an intergrated weapon in the base of the staff that's reversed to fire?

I actually like the current place holders. They have a nice Mayan vibe and I can totally imagine them lobbing balls of energy ,like a staff sling ,at range and expanding the nimbus to cover the entire head of the weapon for melee.
Another idea might be to elongate the head and have energy blades emerge from those nubs on the sides to make them seem even more like a macuahuitl .

Well right now, there will be the unhelmeted guys with the temporal staves, and the helmeted guys that are more close combat based.

Then there will be the elders - larger toad leaders, and the "enlightened" which are psychic elders in the making.

Lots of other stuff too - but these are for sure.

Oh yeah! There's also going to be small spherical drones that zoom around in swarms. When they get close to the enemy they activate displacement drives which teleport themselves anything nearby into another timeline. :)

Whatcha guys think? I like the simple, but mystical look of this weapon when closed, then when it fires, it opens up to expose its Chrono-sphere, which "fires" a beam of temporal energy...
