I'm going to start work on the Marhaf Legion on this thread. I'd welcome any comments/suggestions/feedback from the community. It's very much a work in progress so is open to changes.
For anyone who was following the "Exiles" project, this will be changed to be an army list for Plasmablast's "Progenitor" army. I have minis ordered for that so that project will continue in due course.
Meantime...
NOTES:
I thought it would be helpful for everyone to know the size of these vehicles in comparrison to other Epic minis so that stat creation is made easier.
The Plasmablast minis roughly have the same footprint but a substantially lower height than their GW equivalents. The Marhaf are intended to be a technologically advanced force so I don't have much problem about their armour being as good as anything other forces have even though they are slightly smaller.
I'm using the name and descriptions used on Plasmablast's shop so it is easier for players to find what they are looking for if they want to buy any of the units.
There are more units still to be released so even if we were to settle on the stats there will be more work to do at a later date.
The Marhaf LegionBackground: Please see this excellent document from forum member DaR:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/394 ... Marhaf.pdfArmy Composition: The Marhaf Legion are an A.I. force. Their force consists largely of drone vehicles which are controlled by a very powerful A.I. A Marhaf invasion is usually led by an A.I. which is safely based within an orbiting ship. The A.I. controls all of the forces directly, this in direct contrast to humanoid forces which can only tell their troops what to do but can't always make them do as ordered!
Special Rules:To control the vehicles directly the A.I. uses the Phestorm E/W to communicate with its drones. The effect of this is two-fold;
1) Marhaf forces are built around the Phestorm Tanks, without these in the force the A.I. cannot control its tanks.
2) Support units must stay within 25cm to the E/W Tanks to receive orders.
Every Phestorm Tank in a force is free. For every Phestorm tank in the force, players may buy up to 10 support cards. Building tanks means the expenditure of valuable resources, and as desirable as it may be to have one Phestorm tank for every support card, the A.I.s cannot waste resources in that manner. This means that for every Phestorm tank in the army the player must buy a minimum of 4 support cards.
Every unit in the Marhaf army has the following abilities: Fire on the Fly, Inorganic, A.I. and Instinct. Units outside the Command Radius will revert to their programs (instinctive behaviour) for guidance. These are outlined unit by unit.
Because they are drones, all models in a formation must be destroyed to gain VPs. Marhaf units are very small, typically operating in groups of 1 or 2.
In addition, the Marhaf have perfected active camouflage (AC) systems. If the AC upgrade is bought for a formation it has the following effects on units within that formation:-
Units on charge get no field and can be hit normally.
Enemy units firing at a cloaked Marhaf on advance orders add 20cm to their range.
Enemy units firing at a cloaked Marhaf on First Fire orders add 30cm to their range.
Marhaf units which do not move or fire cannot be seen by any units further than 25cm away and those that can must add 30cm to their weapon range when firing.
Note that AC upgrades apply only to the formation for which they are bought. If there are several formations of the same type bought in an army, each one would have to buy the upgrade to gain the benefits.
