Yeah, just pure spaces get reduced to just one space. To be able to fake columns, you have to intersperse other characters between every space. For example "space dot space dot space" would work as: " . . " so instead of:

Move Save
10cm 5+

you could have

. Move . . Save
. 10cm . . 5+

and so on.

If you aren't already, you really should be using the formula, especially if you want these compatible with Platinum. Of course, the formula is still a work in progress, but much of it is good to go.

Hi,

Yes, these costs are completely on the fly and done with the intention that they will be used alongside the existing NE Gold armies. I have no idea if they will result in a balance or unbalanced army in relation to other Epic forces, only time will tell!

The fact that there are no companies for big VP hauls for the enemy may be problematic, but I'm guessing not as the set up is similar to that of Chaos. I have had a look at what I think are comparable units for other forces and based the costings on these, taking into account that the Marhaf only have 2 vehicles per unit rather than the usual 3. Also, the AC values may be too low, I'll have to see how that pans out in general gameplay, it could be incredibly powerful, especially against forces with shorter range weapons like the Orks and Chaos. I have tried to compensate for this by making the Marhaf weaponry of a similar short range (but pretty powerful).

The new formula costings are on my mind but at this stage the emphasis is in getting the stats down. As I mentioned on another thread, I was hopeless at Maths so the idea of applying the formulas at this stage fills me with dread! However, I will go back once the stats are all finalised and do this. The plan was to add it as a seperate thread in the relevant section when I'm ready. I do want the Marhaf to be a viable army option for players no matter which system they decide to use so this will definitely happen in time.

I meant to also mention that I'm using the same weapons descriptions as are listed on the Plasmablast website. I'm happy for anyone to rename these if desired.

My concern is that they have a few too many weapons. I've countered this by making the missiles on vehicles more like a slightly more effective PD. For the Leehark Hoverjets I've had to remove a set of weapons - the Drone Pods - because I felt 3 weapons was already pushing it!

Well, putting costs to them via formula could be used to reverse cost them for Gold. To be more specific, once they had a cost using the new formula, you could find a unit of that class with approximately that cost and then refer to what the cost for the other unit is in Gold. No worries though. That can also be done by comparing unit by unit.

They don't have companies? Outrageous! ;) So make some. Just because the fluff on the source doesn't have a particular formation, doesn't mean you can't make one.

The only person stopping there being companies is me so I can't complain! ;)

The reason there are no companies is due to my decision about there being no break point until a formation is destroyed. It didn't make sense to me that a drone army would have break points since losses would have no effect on their will to fight. If I applied that principle to a company it would be incredibly unfair to the opposing player. It's also the reason that units are so small, 2 to a formation.

It's easier for me at this stage to allocate points based on my knowledge and experience with the existing points system but I promise I will revalue them under the new system also! :)

Obviously the points system will balance things out, but when creating units, just because they have multiples of a weapon, shouldn't always mean they have that many attack dice. Just something to consider as while working on the updated marines I am trying to limit the number of attack dice and instead improving to hit or save mod when there are multiple weapons. I always go back to the fact that the land raider has 4 las cannons but this is represented by just 2 AD, so maybe a normal single las cannon is only -1 tsm and being twin linked bumps it up to -2.

Any who, just some thoughts.
