Ok, so today saw the first playtest new Overwatch rule. It's a case of so far so good.
Both of us fell foul of Overwatch, both lost important units to enemies using it against us. It worked very well. What is interesting is that the addition of the Overwatch may mean that we change around when we activate certain units.
Fo example, we usually leave activating Titans until last. This may not be the case going forward as units waiting too late may find they are in trouble when they enter play, being subjected to Overwatch attacks. An optional rule that mixes up tactical decision making is what Evolution is all about so I'm fairly happy.
One thing just to clarify - it's implied in the rule above but not explicitly stated - units on Overwatch may not fire at an enemy if it activates on First Fire, only if it moves on advance and charge thought the Overwatching unit's LOS?
Hi!
Your last clarification is an important one, since overwatch should ONLY occur if movement within the overwatch formations LOS happens.
Once you have tested this some more I am proposing it for Platinum.
