Hello,

1. Do a full company of drop pods come on board at once, or a detachment at a time?
2. Can you charge out of a drop pod?
3. Can you Kamikaze drop pod, that is, adjust it's landing position to purposely hit a vehicle?

Thank you,

Pat

1. The whole lot come down at once.

2. You can't charge troops out, only advance.

3. Don't see why you couldn't deliberately smash drop pods on to enemy units. You would still have to roll for scatter for each drop pod though.

Hope this helps!

I agree with Bissler's answers to points 1 and 2.

The rules for Drop Pods do specify (on page 22 of the Adeptus Astares book) that Assault and Support Pods must be placed on the board so that they do not touch any other model, and then they scatter. Thus before the scatter roll is made, they cannot be intentionally aimed at models. After the scatter rolls are made, the pods cannot be moved to another location, as the rules do not say that one can do that, thus that cannot be done either. However, if one should scatter onto a model, then use the rules further down on page 22.

Thus the bottom line is that as per RAW: No, you cannot intentionally target models with your pods.

That said, if you and your opponent are fine with playing it another way, then go right ahead.

In regards to Q1' I thought that droppods came down in "waves", preallocated to turns prior to the start of the game.

Was this ammended in netepic?

Second edition did have the requirement of deciding before the battle when each pod comes down. I cannot see any mention of that requirement in the description for NetEpic, thus it must have been dropped at some point. I would guess that the people who revised things for NetEpic thought that the pre-allocation was too restrictive. Perhaps primarch can comment on that further.

I do see that NetEpic requires all pods that are attached to the same Formation (IE, card) must all deploy at the same time. Thus while NetEpic gives more flexibility in when they arrive, they must all arrive in the same turn.
