I picked up one of the Fantasy Renaissance packs recently - man THIS is the kind of Fantasy I can really get into! So I decided to kick off my first foray into the genre with a fantasy army for the Florentine Republic. I prototyped the uniform for a Florentine pikeman this evening. I realize they didn't actually wear uniforms in the Renaissance but it's fantasy and I'm going a little farther down the road of state society, and giving these guys uniform, albeit pretty flashy, clothing colors. I saw some talk about how to interpret the ridgey trousers - to me they looked like frills and a good chance for a color contrast so I made them red - also the plume and the flourish on the sword - to keep the colors of the Florentine flag and to not make such a small figure too busy, since they'll be based in ranks. The rest of the clothing is light blue shadow with white highlights. I interpreted the shirt as an armored cuirass and made it a steel color - I like the look. I'm still technically shopping for rules systems but I've basically decided to use Warmaster for this one. I'm also going with my usual base labels - with all game data on them: |

I finally came back to this one! With pikemen doing so much lamenting these days, I felt like Warmaster was ready for a re-take. This is my first attempt at something like this - I'm getting used to it. Attachment: Attachment: Attachment:

Nice colour scheme. I usually find white difficult to do on small models but these work well. |

Thanks man! Here's the first part of a Pistolieri regiment, based for Warmaster Fantasy (since there will be magic involved - the Florentines will follow the path of Alechemy, giving them access to all kinds of science-fictioney contraptions). The base proportions are equal to the original Warmaster bases, but scaled down for 6mm scale. I like them better than the huge bases I tried above. They're also, of course, in Imperial units, since I'm in the USA: 1 1/4" x 5/8".

The Da Vinci Steam Tank Mk. I! I hesitated a lot on this but finally dove in. The scalloped armor plates really speak to me - a lot of character.
