The art for these guys has been done for quite some time. Since they are slated to be sculpted and released next year, I figured it was time to show some previews. I was super pleased with the art, can't wait to get these sculpted!

Below are the basic infantry and some command models:

Elite infantry and heavy infantry command:

I want to have 2 sets of capybara-ogres, one heavily armored, one less armored

Here is the first "centerpiece". I plan to have 2 inserts sculpted, one just the basket full of musketeers, another the "ratapult" insert. I also think only 1 capybara-ogre pusher will be sculpted, then just multiples will be provided in the pack as the cart pushers.

A big shout out to netepic for first giving me the idea for this in a forum post years ago. Basically a big sonic weapon. Also pictured are elite guard units to go along with it.

There are a few other troop types I would like to make that don't have art. 2-man flamethrower teams, and a 2-man(rat) tuning fork gun.

I love them, please release the miniatures tomorrow. My only thing is with the roller on the front of the big musket/ratapult contraption should be a little wider to shield the giant ratmen. Overall I couldn't be more pleased with what I see, very nice, how can we get production expedited?

I love these concept sketches. Hopefully, the sculpts can do them justice.

These look absolutely fantastic, count me in for an horde of these Wererats. Could the sonic bell war engine come with a giant cannon piece as well, similar to the two insert concept for the wagon?

Really good concepts. I really like the design of the units. It feels a more dark age to me than GWs rat people. The only thing i would take into consideraton are the ears. Rats don't have pointy ears, they have round ones. (Actually GWs Ratmen look nothing like rats)

Love the Gong Cannon! :D

I need these so bad! These will make my life so much easier, individual ratmen! Both for my fantasy stuff, but more importantly for my sci-fi rats. I love the stuff I have made from other sources but they are so hard to cut up it puts me off painting them in mass! I will be buying way more than I need when these come out, way more than enough to completely re-do both armies twice over!

Just a couple of things, I'm not a big fan of the big mounts, I like that they have rat(ish) like faces but dont just look like giant rats (especially as rat mounts at this scale are easy to source!) but the tail is too lizard-y. I'd much more prefer something thin to fit in with the rat theme.

Will there be a more sci-fi looking command model or two? Maybe something with a rocket? I love the feel of the concept art, but I don't think one or two minis with a little tech would look out of place (though It might be stepping on grandmas shoes a little too much!)

I find that the minis I already have look slightly better with the exaggerated pointed ears, but not really an issue either way at this scale!

Actually cant wait to get stuck in to some of these! Been wanting a decent range of small scale ratmen since I first saw epic, and though the one that does already exists, its quality inst very good, and its very basic! This will blow it out the water! Cant wait till I can finally build the rat city Ive always wanted too do!

There is a number of other units which would work great in this scale for this range (and I don't mean from GW) but I'll hold on to them for now, as you probably have some other things in mind, and any thing you don't make, will be great fun to convert this lot in to!

That cart model will be excellent if you can make it take different inserts, will make it really easy to make more from it, and the spare parts will go towards more crazy schemes! A huge monster would be nice though, dragons and the like don't ever fit the rats very well, so they need some kind of huge mutant rat to fill that void!

@RexHavoc,
I second much of what you've said. I'd also want them for a sci-fi army I was starting to think I would never be able to make.

I think that command models with glboes, or weird devices would be great, as you said. So would a command with a blunderbus, or pistol

I actually thought the giant mounts were supposed to be giant lizards. I don't know what the intent is, but something more diseased would probably suit a ratmen army quite well.

I'm really glad these are coming out, as regardless of the specifics in the range, I know there will be something in there that I want.

I think the molerats are a thematic choice that makes a lot of sense for a race that seems to spend most of its time underground.

Real life molerats are seriously odd creatures (effectively cold-blooded mammals that don't feel pain).

Now a "queen" with handlers and/or palanquin would be rather cool.

I, too, like the idea of molerats. Not to mention the capybaras :D

Image

I would try to make the tail thinner. I think it is the width of the tail that makes it look lizardy. Also, the chainmail hides a lot of the rat, making it look suspicously like a GW cold one. And if you go with thinner, you could make it more ratty without straying too far from the real thing.

Looking wonderful, and I hope you manage to squeeze them in for next year.
