Hey Guys,

I'm putting a couple Microworld fantasy armies together. I'm wondering about basing the cavalry.

We are using 40mm x 40mm bases for our standard units. 5 rows across the front of the base, 4 deep for 20 to a base.

For cav, I have been thinking of doing it 1 of 2 ways, but would like others opinions/recommendations.
Either:
1. use the 40mm x 40mm bases as the infantry is using, putting as many as comfortably fit on the base or 2. use a narrower base, putting maybe 2 or 3 rows across by 2 or 3 deep.

This is my first experience at putting together a fantasy army, so I haven't paid attention as to how they do it in larger scales. I don't even know if taking into account how it's done in larger scales will have the same effect at 6mm.

Any thoughts, comments, or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I think it really depends on what game(s) you are going to be playing. For Fantasy Rules!, Song of Armies and Hordes, and Mayhem all units are on the 40x40. For warmaster fantasy, I think they face the short edge 20x40. If you want added flexibility, base them on the 20x40's as you can always put two together. You will probably only be able to fit them 2 x 2, possibly less for some of the beefier cavalry.
