Post subject:  I'm confused about termites...

Can someone please explain what termites count as once they arrive.

I'm confused because the units are said to count as in ruins when they arrive, but the termites have a stat line...

So...

Do Termites count as a separate unit of 3 models, so can have an aciton? Overwatch I guess?, claim objectives etc?

How big are the ruins? Just the base of the termite?

The termite rules are pretty unclear and I hope to tidy them up when we get around to the tunnellers section.

Termites:
The best way to describe them is as 'playable terrain'. Once they surface they cease being units entirely (no activations, movement, shooting) and instead become ordinary, permanent terrain. The stats are just there for 'comparative purposes'.

As they grant a -1 to hit and 4+ cover save they are pretty damn fantastic as is.


As for modelling/bases the rules are silent but my 'recommendation' is that the termites should be roughly twice the size of your infantry bases (as each termite carries two). I've modelled mine as large bases with lots of rocks, tunnels and emerging termites that is still roughly flat so I can balance two bezerker stand on top when they invariably tunnel up in turn three on the opponents blitz.

So... speaking of tidying up the termite rules, any chance of getting discussion threads going for the rest of the Squat list? :)
