Just a question on how you handle this. Not sure if it came up before.
As the skimmers pop down after their move this means that (as the spotting rule specifies must have LOS) the gyros can't spot for the doomsday cannons while behind cover using the pop-up rule somehow, right?

You are correct that the Gyro cannot spot if it is behind terrain that blocks LoS.
Popping up has no effect, because spotting is only used during the Doomsday's activation when the Gyro is back on the ground.

Skimmers on OW pop up at the beginning of their action and only "pop down" after firing. You could potentially use that to throw a Gyro up and spot.

Of course, lots of units can shoot at the spotter as well...

Nice of you to point out that for me nealhunt. Not easy to set up but a nice trick to have up your sleeve :)

I suppose you can always remain popped up if you wanted. I find that spotting is more about maneuvering behind terrain and lighting a specific target as opposed to peering over the terrain, but if the pop up helps then do it.
