Demented. I like it!

The Mine Portal rules contradict themselves. "up to three" but also "no more than one"?

Quote:
To represent this, Squat armies may have up to three formations per Mine Portal enter play by taking an action that allows them to move, then measuring its first move from the Mine Portal on the tabletop. No more than one formation may travel through a single Mine Portal per game,

I'd guess the "no more than 1" is meant to be per turn, ala eldar or necron portals.

I feel the expanded Tunneller rules should be tweaked

Quote:
Formations of multiple tunnellers need only record one location where they will surface. Place the first unit on this location, and then all other units must be placed within 5cm of another unit that has already been placed.

Currently if you tunnel a Warrior Brotherhood that's taken two sets of "Warriors" upgrades and elects to arrive via Termites then you have 10 tunnelling vehicles. These could daisy-chain out over 100cm if they've just got to be within 5cm of another.

I'd revise it to within 15cm of the initial location.

True - and a 15cm radius should be more than adequate.

FYI I played two tunneller formations with the 15cm radius breaching modifier and it was more than adequate. Good fix!

I think so. I would like to get another set of games in with the proposed stubborn rule before I change it on paper first, but I think it will work.

Is there a specific reason that mole mortars and thudd guns are 6 per formation. Given that they were sold in 10 or 5 sprue boxes getting these numbers together either leave you wasting 4 or having to find 1 or 2 more (or another box of 5 sprues)

IIRC we pulled many of the formation sizes from the old Squat handbooks. I suppose I could look at the Thudd Guns again. For the Mole Mortars though having them in an odd number makes it a strange formation since we've designed them around 1BP per two units.

The 6 per came from prior EA lists I believe.

With the exception of Rapiers (which were 3 per detachment) the rest came in 5s.

There we go...

So is this something we need to change?

Benefits to making it 5 per:
- sticks with SM2 flavor
- it's probably the most common denominator across people's collections due to SM2 sprue layout/packaging

Disadvantages:
- it's a change and people might have built their armies for the old EA lists

We could always compromise at a base of 5 per formation, with the option of adding 1-3 more a la carte. Best of both worlds at the expense of some extra testing?
