Has anyone read the article on this guy? There is a background piece which seems to link directly with the Storm of Iron book! I would like to see where this is going.
It looks like there will be big changes on the way (although knowing GW probably not!).

Is that the article in the recent WD? I haven't yet. I only got mine yesterday, and have only read the Tomb King V Brettonnia battle report so far.
I'll have a read the weekend.
Didn't I see something mentioned a long time ago in a WD about a planet where they were trying to recreate Marines, that were even stronger than the regular marines (going for the Primarch status) but the project went wrong. A few people died etc etc, and then Fabious landed and pinched/killed everything/one.
Anyone know what I'm on about, or am I going to have to dig this out?

Yes, I remember that. The cursed founding, I believe. It was an article on one of the months that IA didnt make it. I cant remember the issue. I cant say that I liked that much, there was not even enough info to be intriguing.

I've always thought Fabius Bile lacked a bit of story. I mean he's pretty bad. I believe he enslaves entire worlds doesn't he? For his experiments. He has the backing of all the chapters too as he can reproduce marines.
I maybe wrong in that there's lots of info, but I dont have any chaos codex's, so the only fluff on him I know of is things I've seen on the net or in WD.
Abbaddon maybe pretty scary, but I would have thought Fabius with his cloning abilities, is a worry for the Imperium. I would imagine he's got some useful info that the imperium coud use too, but that would be heretical.

I always felt the other way around, that Fabulous Bile (sic) had more story than Abaddon. I must admit that my favourite character is Ahriman. Very cool.
FB is supposed to have a lot of secrets that the Imperium would love to get hold of. For example, he is one of the reasons that the Chaos Legions remained stocked with new Marines, and hold a lot of mutations at bay.
I always found Abaddon to be a spoilt child. I was around when Horus was the main guy (even if he was technically dead)! And he was the ultimate leader. When Abaddon took over, I felt betrayed!

I thought I'd be wrong
Without access to any chaos 'dex's I dont know much about him. And when there are any campaigns, I dont seem to hear anything of him.
Ahrimans my fav chaos character too, and I am tempted by a thousand sons army, but I haven't the time nor money at the moment.
Besides, there are quite a few chaos players around at the moment, and more to come with this campaign.

I dont think that Ahriman is a character that I would add to a Chaos army (even if I had any, I dislike characters in armies and prefere to make my own). But, his background is pretty cool. Cypher is the one that most like, but he is a fairly typical outlaw. Fabius has a more threatening edge to him, but I dont like his rules in 40K. His followers are a bit random, and he is expenisve in terms of points.

I've read the stuff in the WD now. I have read it somewhere before, as it was all familiar. I dont know what you mean about the link with Storm of Iron, as I haven't read it.

I agree. Storm of Iron is great. I like GW books which are different from the usual 'armoured giant striding through a hail of firepower, shots richocheting he decapitates fourteen guardsmen and wins the battle...' stuff.
My top books would have to be (not in order): Storm of Iron Relm of Chaos (contravertial, but I really liked it) Chaos World (is that what it is called) Inquisitor trilogy and Gaunts Gaunts series (no surprises there)
Books I didnt like: Watsons Inquisitor series Space Wolf

I would say that I think the Ian Watson's series needs to be read with the 1st/2nd Ed fluff in mind .. there a few odd little things you may notice that grate a little with the current fluff, and this makes it a little different to the shiny new stories that the BL currently produce... Also, Ian Watson does have a distinctive style that is quite... "different"..... to many other SF authors... I can't say I like his writing all that much, having read a few other of his books What didn't you like about Space Wolf? Wasn't all that bad in my opinion......

Ian Watson is good as writing the Eldar scenes, he has that etherial style. But, I dont like a whole book of it. I only read the first Space Wolf book. It was not well written and just went on about this stuff that we should all know, but was new for the recruit and so I felt that I had heard it all before.

The first inquisitor books got me hooked but I didnt know much then regarding fluff and didnt pay much attention. The second series with Eisenhorn was really good.
Nightbringer will be the next book for me or the new dark angels one. Nightbringer has a new sequel to it and farseer wasnt too bad, but thats because Eisenhorn was the last I read after farseer. Still farseer has a good plot and much that can be expanded!!
