Don't know if this has already been posted, but here are images of some of the new starship models from Hawk Wargames, for their new fleet scale space | planetary assault wargame that will run alongside Dropzone Commmander. Pictures taken at the SALUTE 2015 wargames show in London UK 25/04/15.

It is due in early 2016 and designed by Andy Chambers.

Here is a picture of the rather stunning 10mm model of a frigate sized dropship 'Avenger', that Hawk Wargames placed in front of their show stand.

A podcast report by Neil Shuck of Meeples and Miniatures featuring an interview with Andy Chambers and David Lewis of Hawk Wargames can be found here:

The Hawk Wargames interview runs from 27minutes in to 41minutes.

So, now that Dropfleet kickstarter stuff has shipped (and oh my, is it ever absolutely gorgeous printed material), has anyone else got their hands on anything?

There has to be lots of people who have their stuff, but almost no pics of hobby activity, such as painting, yet. I haven't got my stuff yet...

Well I can't promise painting (I think I have painting promises on hold from 2008 still...) but I could probably squeeze out some sprue and book pictures. Honestly, the space station sprue made me swoon...

I haven't even received a shipping notification yet.

I know they had a glitch with those, but I thought it had been sorted by now.

The FB group is full of some awesome (and not so awesome) fleets being painted up. I continually annoy Apoc with pictures at odd time of the day :D There's a group in Singapore that are just killing it with their games (the custom printed mats they're using are AMAZEBALLZ)

Reading Andy's unboxing post was wonderful. He was so honestly excited like a little kid. He himself referrs to it as BFG 2.0 I'm glad to see some attention to it here.

Anything but Facebook. :/

Aware of any love for it elsewhere?

When I opened up all my stuff, I was so excited by it all too. If I was the sort to video my things I'd have been giddy and all over the internet saying so. The rules are really, really clean and pretty simple to understand so far (considering I'm STILL confused by E:A after how many years and I'm feeling confident enough to play my first games of Dropfleet after three days that should tell you something!).

I haven't been this enthusiastic about a game *AFTER* seeing it and playing with the models and checking the rules out since BFG. I am so, so excited.

...and of course my best friend sends pictures of his starting to paint Firestorm Armada ships. Damnit. -_-

I went in for the 2-player and a few extras, but barely had chance to even flick through the book yet! Feel bad, as i got my stuff in the first few weeks of shipping. I agree it all looks lovely.

Might want to check this site if you want to avoid facebook :

Or this for painting.

That said, the hawk's own forums are pretty well used.

Yep, I've had a good look there, just waiting on account activation. I wonder if the place is busy with new members right now... ::)

Thanks for the other links, some nice pictures to steal inspiration from!

The articles on the hotLZ blog are great. Its hype-train central but he manges some really great commentary on the ins and outs of the different races playstyles!

The facebook group is worth a look at too, people have been converting up a storm to proxy as yet completely unrealised ships like corvettes and that dont even have concept art out yet.

Dropfleet actually caused me to buy into Dropzone Commander too and i cant say I'm dissapointed on that front either.
