I lover warhammer, but both times I really went for it (first time about 10 years ago, second time about a year) I really got put off by the painting. It takes way too long and let's face it, I know you could just paint it to a crap standard but who really wants that?

Not having a moan, just wondering if anyone else is put off by the painting element of the game.

Try painting in a social setting, that helps me out a lot. I started going to my FLGS Monday painting night two years ago and have got a lot done since then.

That's the problem I have - I am not actually near any Gamesworkshop's.

In that case just get the toys on the table and play. Dispite what many people say playing with unpainted models is not against the law, you won't go blind and the world won't end. However you may get told computer games are better for you, as I once did on this very forum

I hate painting.

I'm with the OP. It is especially true for fantasy, in my opinion, because most of those models are just extra wounds for the unit. Those models don't really do anything other than fill in yet another rank. 40k is a bit better, because each model moves independently, but not by much.

For me, the easiest GW game to paint for was necromunda, because every model was basically an independent character. Also, you only need 8-12 models and you're done.

But again, I'm agree with the OP. I realize playing with unpainted minis is morally acceptible, but it's still a downer.

and it does allow you to try out army and list variants to see what suits your style . . .

you could always just send your minis overseas to get painted.

that way you could just enjoy the game. It's a small cost to pay if it keeps you gaming for the next 10 years rather than shelving your minis.

True, so what are some good painting services that have experience with epic minis? And I don't mean experience with GW minis or experience with 6mm minis. An answer in the form of a PM is acceptible.

It never really has. I've never been great, but I get faster and better with every mini I paint. I certainly enjoy painting less than building or converting, but in every hobby there's somepart that's less enjoyable than the rest, and part of the pride I get from finishing a unit is that I took the time to paint it, despite the effort involved.
