Just got an awesome deathbot orb and gateway from shapewayes recently. They look fantastic! However I've heard that frosted ultra detail needs to be treated appropriately in order to keep the greasy film that appears to develop on the surface. I think it was jimmy who recommended sealing it but I don't fully recall. So any recommendations from you guys would be most appreciated! ;D

Thanks a lot mark. So I guess a simple wash should do then. I assume then there shouldn't be any residual after full cleaned and painted? I'm sure it's fine like you said I just can't shake the memory of someone complaining about the residual even after painting the models. I could be completely off however as I enter my old age. :) thanks again.

yeah simple wash will do.

The sealing it helps with painting as the material is porous and eats paint like you won't believe.

How would you go about sealing it? Spray varnish do the trick? How about brush varnish? I have practically no idea what sealing means, embarrassingly enough.

Yeah hit it with same varnish. You don't have to drown it,mind you

I always soak mine in Simple Green for a couple days and then give them a light scrub-down with some warm soapy water. For sealing, a clear primer or "adhesion promoter" seems to work okay.

All great advice. Will have to put into practice once school gets off my back! :) In either case thanks for building those awesome deathbots Nolo!

The other thing I've found is that dust and lint really sticks to them. Normally if I've left models out on the shelf and they've got a bit dusty, just blowing hard on them and possibly giving them a bit of a wipe with a brush clears the dust away just fine. But with FUD, you really have to make sure you've cleaned all the lint away before priming.
