Truly excellent!

I'm wondering what you plan to use for the claws also. The legs from the new squires coming out from exodus wars may prove to be useful, as could the claw arms found on some of the ork gunwagons.

I look forward to seeing the rest.

I just want to start by saying you chaps have been very supportive ! Thank you,
Your Feed back is important to helping me shape and make these tutorials better for you!
Also I may ask for your sugjestions on my next conversion tutorial , start thinking of some think you would like to see made it can even be some thing that only exists as GW art work ! Or some thing like the new 40k forge world debaser or the old debaser. Any way that can be later.

Claw time!
So my thought is I do two different claws one easy one and one advanced one , that
Way you can choose which one you prefer or if you can come up with a better one I'd like to
See it! Please Post it here! So we can see it :) ok talk is cheep action!
The easy one is simple you will need a 2nd Ed Ork battle wagon grabber claws
See photo DC12A you simply cut around the out side of the round joint, clean it up with a
File and then glue on the area where the small wheels are on the Ork ram where you left
the front wheels on, if you want to keep it simple your done now unless you want to add
some more spikes or something.

It's also worth note- ing that I chanced the chaos rocket to an Ork heavy weapon ,
the one that looks like a plasma cannon. I just wanted something with a little more detail,
if I could find some thing in my bitz box that looks like a chaos rocket launcher I may use That instead.
If you look at the photo DC12B you will see that I'm making my own claws to replace the ones on the arms ,
" they look a little weedy to me". I'm still working on the arms and claw,
the claws you see here that I'm cutting out of plastic have Been scraped,
they look the same I am just making them bigger I had miss judged the scale
and made the first rev to small :( any way got to jam, sorry it's taking for ever
but I promise the more Advanced one will look very close to the 40k defiler claws! ;D

Sorry for the slight hiatus! I have add a crazy batshit month of work home repairs and commitments
I had to attend to! leaving me literally no spare time! :(
so this all I have so far so lets just post that for now! :D

I ues a ork battle wagon ram that looks like claw rippers, I cut out these bits next to the yellow arrows to add later as bulk for the legs, set aside for now.

I will need this set of horologic rams on the arms next to the white arrows for later on the leg detail and filling out the open spots.

I made the claws out o plastic I had in my collection, just found something that
looked right in thickness. the large red arrow shows the notch I made to account for the
thumb of the claw. Very impotent I filled at an angel from the tip of the claw ti the small
skinny red arrow this give the impression the claws are spaced apart evenly, so there's a small
gap between the to big claws. see photo (Defiler claw2)

you may have noticed a U shaped placticard bit there, this was the easiest way I could think of to make
the outer Armour on the claw attached to the leg. you can see the piece I cut out right above the claw.

I had to file back the round joint that had the original claws attached to it, I filed it back to about a half circle.

Also you may have seen the second set of horologic rams on the arms I added those to ether side of the arms for more bulk, i cut them from the ork battle wagon arm

here is were I put the piece i cut from the ork ram as seen on the Photo (defiler claws)
the large purple arrow shoes where it went the 2 smaller purple arrows show were they were cut from.

Oh suck lunch is over thats alll I have time for , ugggg!
To Be Continued . . . damn sorry this is turning into a long tutorial. ;D

Hey sorry for the wait , real life has been keeping me preoccupied, just posting this to let you know the final result will get posted this week it's so close I'm hopping to have time today to finish the last claw! If I'm real lucky it should be up today! I will put up 4 different angle photos so you can get a good look at all the detail of the claws!
Thx for being patient!
PS. I'm about 70 % sure I am going to paint it Chaos undivided color scheme so it will look good
I any of my chaos armies!

Alright the moment has arrive that some of you have been waiting for ! ;D
sorry for making you wait for it ::) but I wanted to do this right !
So as illustrated by the previous steps I had made the base of the claw arms
the placti-card i cut out to look like the claws gets added to the arms , and the arm
guard goes on top of the joint between the two helps make a stronger bond .
so now for the finishing touches I use the Dark Eldar spiky bitz again I will select
the one that has a big and small spike on it an cut of the big one and use that , I
used 4 of them on the arm guards to seal the deal! ;D

One last photo of the other side and that's that till I have time to paint it!
Oh one more thing I did find a good substitute for a havoc missile launcher
I was going though my "RegularHammer 40k" Ork bitz and found that the ork extra bullet clips
expressly the one with 5 bullets on it that curves if you cut the middle one out and file down the edges of the
two sets of two bullets then glue the one on top of the other they look like a 4 barrel havoc launcher !
i can put the photo up later! :D it can be more convincing as a rocket launcher than the ork plasma cannon
on the defiler currently lol.
PS I tried to make the defiler look as close to the default one you see on the GW website.

Well what do you think TacComm? Id like to hear from you!

Really great work on this! I'm off to attempt to replicate it :)

My only change will be to swap the scarab body for a 40k marine backpack, I may fiddle with the weapons a little too but those are minor tweaks
