Started a new little project. Also meant for printing, but this time something for the Imperials to shoot at...

It's still very WIP. Need to figure something out for the guns pointing forwards. But once ready this could function as a Kill Kroozer or something.

Off to a good start! Make sure you keep symmetry to a minimum to give it that ramshackle look our favorite green marauding aliens are known for.:)

Another update. Some teeth have been added, and the left side is almost done. The right side will get a similar threatment, but it will also be where the forward pointing weapons will be mounted.

I like that a lot!

The corrugated roofs give a lot of personal character, while still being very orky! And it's a very different direction form where I had planned to go with my ork blueprints! :D

Nice design and look.

Scale-wise you seem to designing the ships as though they're much small than they are - those look like little houses with windows on the sides, but you shouldn't even be able to see regular windows on a BFG ship, they'd be much too small. Do you realise BFG ship are HUGE? e.g. the Lunar class cruiser is 5km long, Ork Brute Ramships are around 1.1km long and Ork Battlekroozers are around 11km long.

Scalewise BFG makes little sense, regarding the models that is. Even the Imperial and Chaos models have bridges with windows on them. What is the captain going to do? Look outside and see if an enemy ship is nearing? At those distances?

Realism has never stood in the way of any of the 40k stuff, I mean...

I think thats starting to look pretty damn cool. Keep going, maybe cut the front off and make different types of fronts that can go on so you can do variety?

The front will be a separate part. Not so sure yet about making many different types of fronts. Thing with printing it at Shapeways is that this sort of thing can become quite expensive rather quickly (ship kit + variant bits). However, the whole concept of Bits Blitz is to sell bits, so I might actually end up doing it.

Any suggestions for front variants?

It only takes your time to create more fronts its then up to the purchaser to decide what they want. Variety is something most people like to see so i say consider it. I'll get back to you on different front ideas.

I've beefed the teeth up slightly, added some 'wounds' to the ship's hull, and removed some of the larger shacks. I need to rethink the shacks a bit, I like the concept too much to just drop it, but after putting the model next to the human ships I made, it seems a bit odd...

Love the broken hull on the prow!

An idea: to keep the "shack" look, without giving away the scale too much, maybe you could "trim" the edges of the roofs, so that they are flush with the walls?

I don't know if it makes sense, but maybe this way it would give the suggestion of a shanty town, without making you say "ok, that's a corrugated sheet roof with a chimney"...
