A little side project with the retro sci fi offerings from O8: 3mm scale Mutant Chronicles! Imperial Corporation forces are getting ready to invade Ishtar Terra on Venus. Dark Symmetry be damned - nothing stands in the way of opportunity. Strike now while Bauhaus is weak!

The retro line from O8 spoke to me way more of Mutant Chronicles than of the (probably intended) 40K milieu. A little more like Wierd War I than Grimdark Galaxy at War. Unfortunately the camo works a little too well and the blending between the tanks and the base is too close. I’m considering a different basing scheme to play up the contrast more.

Hi Mr Average

Off topic sort off.

I have brought a number of Oddzial Osmy 3mm infantry and because of the hard brittle metal they are cast in it is difficult to individually separate them from the strips without decapitating several in the process. Just wondered what tools you used?

I use model railroad track cutters. Instead of clipping them all the way across I kind of nip the edge a little which causes them to crack off at the score. I do lose the occasional infantryman but on balance this works. If you can cover or hold the sprue with a cloth or napkin it keeps the little pieces from flying off all anyhow.

Some of the infantry clips better than others. The NATO infantry and Venator battlesuits clip very well with just a little pressure; others not so much. The Imperial Japanese Troops are particularly fragile and have given me a lot of trouble. Vanguard’s infantry is of soft metal and a lot easier to manage but the scaling is ever so slightly different. I’m a fan of both.

Thanks. I will see if I can pick some new cutters up at my local model shop. It's a shame as they will work well as proxies for the Novan Regulars.

The O8 NATO Troops I and II are all-around excellent “regular infantry” stand-ins. For my Mutant Chronicles Force I’ve been using WWI French Troops as Imperial Trenchers, however.

After some fussing with camo schemes I couldn't find one better for the Imperial Corporation, so discretion being the better part of valor, I moved the locus of battle from Venus to Mars, at least as far as the basing is concerned. The contrast is way more attractive, and yet still seems appropriate to the color scheme.

I'm already eyeing those Grudd VTOLs from Onslaught as potential Imperial corporation transports.
