With the incoming Imperial Army, I need some bad guys to fight! And so while I'm waiting for the Guard to take up positions (that is, to arrive in the mail) I'm working up a Word Bearers OPFOR. Bring on the Battle of Calth!
This being the Imperial Civil War, the true extent of the Word Bearers' descent into chaotic mutation isn't going to be really evident until they've spent a few thousand years in the Eye of Terror, but these guys are mentally deranged in a big way - they have all the hardware of a Codex force and all the insanity we've come to expect from a Chaos force. However, the army list is basically a plain Codex Marine force at the moment.
Leading off we have a Terminator Detachment, tricked out with Lucian-pattern "Deredeo" Dreadnoughts:

And what Terminator is really at home without his Land Raider?

And here I have primed but not yet painted, an Assault Detachment (with customization by me) and a Tactical Detachment (vanilla Picoarmor/O8 "Venators."):

And in the works, the usual Space Marine levy of Transport, Whirlwinds, Vindicators, etc.:

I have Predators on the way, too, and I'm looking at some fleet scale fighters from either Brigade or Studio Bergstrom as potential land speeder proxies. I'm also going to be re-basing my Ultramarines to the new standard I have here with precut plywood bases and new infantry (the old ones, though they looked good, were impossible to handle on the table).
So this is fixing to be abother Summer of 40K! I always come back to 40K in the summer...
