New player here, keen to know what the more expierenced players feel about the quanity of Allied Detachments( Titans or Bombers/Fighters).

Do you make do without, or are they a bit more of a must?

While IM here. How many thundershawks is too much?

I managed to bag 8 Aeronatuica ThunderHawks before they sold out.
Maybe I went a little overboard....

Both allied titans and aircraft have their advantages and uses but are not must haves. I often run a 'groundpounder' style SM army with no aircraft and sometimes 1-2 Warhounds. For Marines single Warhounds are generally agreed to be the best titans to take and a Warlord is regarded as sub-par at 3-4k.

8 Thunderhawks seems a excessive, but it really depends how big your games and collection will be. Personally I mostly play 3k or 4k but have 7-8k of SM to choose flexible army builds from and to occasionally use all together in a big game. For me 8 would be too many, but for my friend Aaron who has more than one entire chapter it would be too few. Personally I have 3 Thunderhawks, 2 Thunderhawk Transporters and 1 Landing Craft, which I think is a good mix. I also have 4 Warhounds and 2 Reavers and plan to convert Warlords and Emperor class eventually. I'll rarely use all the titans at once, but I like having flexibility to do so occasionally and I also use the titans as a Titan Legion.

Lastly, I notice you posted in the Epic40k section. If that was intentional then all the above is irrelevant, but I'm guessing you probably meant the current version, Epic Armaggedon.
