Both armies are really nice. I've a nid army all boxed up that's just waiting for the day I get round to it! Your marines, what kind of points does that come to? To someone who hasn't played in over a decade it looks pretty small? Or is it just about right to play an average game?

Marine armies are generally small (elite troops and all); This army is all right to play a 3000 point game, which is what we usually play anyway. There's almost 4000 points worth of units, so there is some room for variation:

Summer holidays and business at work can really cut into the painting progress. But, it isn't entirely halted.

First, a formation of Land Raiders and an escort Hunter:








Second, a formation of Tactical marines, with two Dreadnoughts and an Escort hunter. They would typically be fielded without Dreadnoughts, for normal maneuver warfare, or without Rhinos, for a garrisoning forward AA site.









Sigh. I just now notice that one of the tacticals is facing the wrong way. I'll have words with their Brother-sergeant, but I don't think I'll be redoing the shoot.
