Thanks Rastamann, they'll look better painted (I hope), and vessel no. 5 has been conceived and the main component (i.e. the hull) dug out of oblivion.
The winged skull. Almost certain it's from 40K Imperial vehicle sprues. I would have liked a smaller one, but on a ship it can work as a sort of large decoration at the bows (I almost wrote figurehead, but on this slab-sided monster it doesn't really work).
By the way, in the pic it should be clear that the one in the foreground is unpainted, and going clockwise, basecoated, start of basecoat, almost basecoated.

Yep, it's from the IG Tank Accessory Sprue.

Thanks for the confirmation S Ghost.
I actually couldn't find it for a while on the link pic - it's to the left of the missile near centre of the sprue.
Meanwhile I started designing and assembling no. 5, and it's one model I'm having fun with. I have to admit I love transports.....

And here's the plan for the transport:

Transport base-coated:

Doing its job (it can carry 2 Land Raiders too):

Looks a bit unstable....note the use of square bases - these will be painted to fit in with the look of the transport, to make the knights appear to be loaded directly on the vessel instead of having bases (cunning plan part 1).

Cunning plan part 2. Transport? What transport? It's a floating Ordinatus!

Must get down to painting more and converting less... :whistle

EDIT: Dash :{[] forgot to take pics of what we got from a trip to the gardening centre. Ah well, will do that next time.

What's that made from? I see an ammo box, bits of rod and tube, what looks like some sort of dock or quay, and the lower chassis from a 1/72 tank? Am I even close?

Looks real nice, especially with the variety of parts you used.

Very close!
The hull is the 'deck' or hull top of an unidentified toy tank, more or less 1/72 scale, used upside down for the transport.
The small superstructure is in fact a 40K vehicle sprue (useful, this) ammo box - I filed detail off the hinges to make them bridge windows, and eliminated the handle. The Aquila I left on.
The funnel is part of a rocket, the antenna is a bit of wire rod, and the bits of decking are parts from a pair of 1/76 Atlas rocket kits I had purchased online for very little - the rockets I am planning to use elsewhere, the rail truck launchers I had used for a submarine transporter (!) and the remainder is being put to good use in various projects such as this.

Progress report: trying to finish up what is now a small flotilla of 7 vessels (!) which do not feature in any Epic system and thus have no points value. Maybe I should go by weight ;)

Nice to see I had never any intention to build ships when I started off this TOEG....

Meanwhile something else has caught my attention: Dropships.
Especially this one:

Too pretty for the Imperium, though..... :tut

Now you have, Apo :)
Trouble is that my old Epic models have grey/brown/sand bases (!) whilst to fit in with the transport appearance I have to make them light grey... and my new games table is a very pale sand. What a magnificent mess.
Rasta, glad to be of service. I did not mention the ancient Titan I dragged out of storage, by the way, or the garden centre stuff I had referred to earlier. They are unrelated to each other and to the dropship and the fleet. Or anything else. :{[]

Oh heck.
Why does a random picture of a spaceship found purely by chance throw the usual spanner?
Guess what I'm trying to build? It's already 40cm from cockpit to rear, and I still have to add the engines, and the detail, how do you do that?
All together boys, one, two, headbang!

Could be a Stormbird. They were said to be large and graceful looking.

Could be.
And it can also look tough too, just a little bit Space Mariney, although it has a good deal of Tauistry.
