Here's the finished Ordinatus Golgotha. The paint scheme is simple enough, but I had a real headache with the hazard stripes. There's just no way to do them neatly at this scale! Fortunately I was able to hide the more egregious examples with some weathering powder.

I am currently working on a trio of Stormblades, and will post photos when they're done. They are important because the colour scheme I choose for them will probably decide the colour scheme I use for the rest of the Skitarii: a Leman Russ company, and a load of infantry supported by APCs.

Looks good to me, my first though on seeing the pic was actaully 'oh nice stripes, and combined with a weathering fade as well' :D

I cheat and use a 0.5mm fine liner. Needs varnishing afterwards though as it tends to be a bit shiny compared to the paint.

3mm tape helps to keep crisp fields as well

I've tried that. I'm as bad at drawing straight lines as I am at painting them!

I need 0.5mm tape!

Get some thread (0.3mm?) and coat it in masking fluid (stuff used for watercolour painting etc), then stretch it taught and stick it onto the area in lines, using the masking fluid as adhesive. Allow to dry, paint, peel off masking fluid thread.

… no idea if that would work, just thought it was a neat idea :D

edit, oooor:
stick 2 scalpel blades together on the flat. This should give you something that cuts very fine parallel lines (might not be fine enough, if not angle the blade points towards each other when securing). Now cut a length of masking tape and use your new cutting tool to cut a series of very fine parallel lines in the tape, never going to the edge of the tape. Now nick out every other pair of cuts to remove thin strips of tape, leaving behind a fine masking tape strip grating that you can pop over the required area.

Or transfers that you trim to size.

I'm actually working on a sheet of hazard stripes of various sizes that could be printed onto decal paper.

That was the least fun of all the options :(

… though admittedly the only one likely to actually work

at that level it's easy enough to eyeball it (and trim to fit works).

As apoc said you can use anything really as a spacer. His thread idea would work provided you sealed the paint first (suggest gloss as it's smooth and would work best). Conceptually this is pretty similar to using Vallejo liquid masking for things like rust. Decals would work but honestly probably not on those tracks (seems hard to trim to fit than painting them would be =/ )

Knowing that model I'd actually use the tape as a "ruler" and use the pen considering the tight spaces.

I was thinking of using apoc's parrallel blades to just carve straight onto the model, and then ink the reccesses...
