Well having a look around and being an old space marine titan legions player (still actively playing). Game this friday 7,000 points. And always slipping in and out of painting this may be a good way to keep me at the painting as so much left to complete!. My current army consists of all the bracnches of the Imperial army (Marines/gaurd/tech gaurd) also recently some Squats although i do use a simple plain paint scheme except i do try on larger peices.

The big quandry is do i expand my squats as they did very well in my last battle.
Build several more imperial gaurd companies (the idea of 10-12 tactical/beastmen companies marching across the board )
build a small chaos army
I usually do field imperial gaurd with allies (marines/squats) or marines

I did find some more sprues of marines and have some more chaos i aquired on way. Plus i do have quite a list that i'm still looking for to expand my army

I paint my troops a plain colour then part to distinguish detachment, nice plain and simple. My mate paints even the belt buckles!! on his troops. Although the bigger items like my imperitor titan i did make an effort, but you can see difference between my first painted ones from about 15yrs ago to nowadays lol my warlord titan here was my very first titan i painted 16yrs ago i think, the reaver was about 2 years later and my imperator was last year.

based on 20mm card with plaster and dry brushed, one detachment with barb wire at front, one plain and one with wintered bush at front (dry brushed brillo pad)

Going to try and finish/do some Squats next

Completed my first squat land train although bit iffy about colours. Next one going to be blazing orange with blue trim i think. And not going to use airfix paint as a base (1st and last time) Acrylic just doesn't cover.

did try on battlecar on left. but found results to be poor. will try again when got a bit more of an idea how to apply it better. didn't help i had used humbrol paint as base coat

To keep a nice clean yellow, try painting it into the recesses. Otherwise, slap it liberally, and allow it to settle in. I find Gryphonne Sepia to be the best for shading yellows. You could also try washing the entire model, then drybrusing with the base color.

Basically experiment to find what works for you.
